Another Central Texas legend is gone.

Heard the news earlier today.

Coach Godwin was a legend. Super identifiable voice. You could pick him out of a crowd in a heartbeat just by the raspy sound.

At the time of his retirement he was the 8th winningest coach in Tx HS football history.

I got to see coach Godwin one last time today. A great Aggie and great mentor who made me the man I am today. I'm going to miss him but the stories will continue. RIP Coach!!!

3rd Gen - it was a pretty classy move by the new coaches.

Sorry to see the coach go.I've never forgotton some of the games we had with Rogers over the years. He always said if he had Bartlett's talent where I played he would win state every year. I think we were 1-3 over the four years I played. But I remember that raspy voice. One night at a basketball game he hollered from his bench over to ours. "Coach.. let them white boys play", in that raspy voice. Set everyone to laughing. I had the privilege of having coach chase me and a friend one night with a shotgun while we were escorting his daughter and friend around late one night. We were able to give him the slip and get the girls home before he could engage us. Fun times indeed. May God give rest to his soul forever.
