I got this product in to install on my 6.7 on my oil change. Felt as if I couldn't get it to go on all the way. Worried it was going to mess up my threads so I switched back to the factory. Anyone use these?

I just installed one in my 5.7 Tundra a couple of weeks ago after an oil change. Went in fine, but haven't really used the valve yet, obviously. Sure seems well made and should make future changes a lot easier.

Yea I was pretty excited for it. Make my oil changes cleaner and easier. I'll call their support line and see what they decide. If not it's going back

i have one on my 12 f150 and another on my wife's 09 pilot. pilot is coming up for an oil change in the next month or so and we'll see if it works as intended. Haven't had any problems with either of them in the past ~5-7 months they've been on our autos.

I've used them for years. Never had a single problem.

It felt as if it wanted to cross thread, but my factory one went on just fine

Yeah I'd get in touch with them. Mine went on easily on both vehicles.

This will be our first change with them on but I haven't had any leaks or issues with them.

Since my factory plug has a magnet on it. I stick an old hard drive magnet to the oil filter.

I just put one on my wife's van at the last oil change. Haven't had to change the oil yet to try it out. It went on easily enough. Have you double checked to make sure it is the right model for your car? Maybe you were sent the wrong one.

Put a Fumoto on my 4Runner a couple years ago. No issues with installation or use. Makes my oil changes a lot easier and cleaner. Love it!

Looks cool but to me the far bigger mess always comes from removing the filter. Seems like they put them in damn awkward spots most of the time.

I have two of them that I have used for years, one on my '99 Land Cruiser and the other on my '10 LC...makes changing the oil easy except for the filter change on my '10 with the 5.7L...that's a PITA (not the Fumoto valve's fault).

Have one on my Jeep with a 3.6 and love it. With the drop in cartridge filter, I can do an oil change in less than 10 minutes, and that includes getting out supplies and cleaning up.

Reminds me - need to order one for the wife's Durango.

Is this the 6.7L Powerstroke with the plastic pan or steel pan?

Plastic oil pan?!?! I need the laugh/cry emoji. Thats sad.

I've had a fumoto on my duramax for a few years now, no complaints. I was really nervous about having the drain open so easy so I opted for the "lock spring" with it.

They think I was sent a defective plug. I'm sending the one I bought back and I'll try again in another 4 months

They scare me. At least on my cars, they would be in vulnerable places, IMHO. I can only imagine going off track or something and breaking it off. That said, the NSX does have one that came with the car. I'm not a fan, but in this case, well, if it was broken off somehow, the car would have to be really banged up good.

I have to admit that it did make changing the oil pretty easy, although like someone else said, it doesn't prevent the bigger mess, which is the oil filter.

Chrysler. VW, BMW, Mercedes and Ford all use them.

Ford did swap back to a stamped steel pan on the 6.7L again.

A fumoto valve would help a bit, but I concur that the filter is the bigger issue on most cars. They were kind enough to put a plastic splash guard/diverter under the oil filter on the 5.0L F150's oil filter which is centered over a frame cross member, so you get an oil-fall coming down in two places instead of one when you get the filter off.

Sure the filter is still a pain, but it sure is nice to stick a hose on, flip the switch and walk away with no hot oil all over your hands. At least with the filter you can manage it by slowly letting it drain out at a manageable rate and keep driveway relatively clean.

Love my fumtoto valve, even put it on my tractor.

Those companies aren't really strong argument to back up using plastic.

But I was just joking, I understand plastics of today are capable of being suitable for that application, but hearing plastic for an oil pan just sounds funny.

We're interested to see if it'll work...just line the floor with newspaper and do a quick swap.

I have a brand new valve I bought for my 6.0 on 2005. I never got comfortable with the idea that it could be opened without tools. Just never brought myself to install it. It has a spring in it.

I have them on two vehicles.
Love them if your not in a hurry. They definitely drain alot slower, but it makes it a lot easier to keep it clean.

Not sure if it's like this with all BMWs, but on the Ms they use a recessed hex plug (2x for late 07s to 2010) which were easily stripped since folks love to tighten down drain plugs with all their might. The plastic filter housing has a similar plug which allows you to drain the .4L from the housing before changing filters, but mine is stripped so it's a mess unscrewing the housing and having hot oil get everywhere.

They sell a little clip lock that goes around it, if I end up keeping the car awhile longer I may put them on.

I've had one on my 2014 F250 6.7 for a couple years, and i love it. Drains a little slow, so get something that holds about 5 gallons, set it under the valve, and give it 15 or 20 minutes. Don't try to drain it into empty oil bottles. I also installed a Fumoto valve on a Honda generator, and a friend's truck. I didn't have any trouble cross-threading, or over-tightening on this, but I just recently bought a good torque wrench for future projects. Probably a good idea.

Saw a just rolled in to the shop post where the brass drain plug assembly twisted out of a plastic oil pan on a 2023 Nissan.

How common is this?

Replacing the oil pan trying to do an oil change sounds expensive.
