The previous generation Tundras were great looking IMO. The new ones are horrible looking - like large mouth bass with braces.nealan said:

So I'm not a truck guy previously but I'm thinking about getting one and was wondering Texags opinions. I'm normally a Toyota guy but Tundras are more expensive and looking around at reviews and ratings it seems like recent RAM trucks are actually pretty well regarded compared to other brands right now. They are also more budget friendly than a tundra. Does anyone have any strong opinions for or against a RAM truck? Also does 1500 classic vs 1500 matter?
Would likely be getting a used 2022 or 2023 at some point next year so looking at those years in particular for the best bang for my buck. I don't really care about interior gadgets or anything fancy. Fords seem to be pricier than RAM as well and I don't really have an interest in Chevy.
Looking to decide if an extra 10k for a tundra is really worth it for ride and reliability if they aren't even rated higher on reliability these days.

Nice looking truck!
Any more you can share about the deals they were offering? I'm a few months out from getting something but am curious what the market is looking like right now.
You know how I can tell you have never owned a Ram?Quote:
The Ram will likely be in the shop a lot more than the Tundra.

Don't judge the current iteration of the RAM trucks based on something that happened 20 years ago. It also sounds like you soured on the truck based on a dealer mistake (notwithstanding the original water pump failure).Fannie Luddite said:Wrong.MaroonDontRun said:You know how I can tell you have never owned a Ram?Quote:

The Ram I owned had the water pump disintegrate and left me stranded. I had it towed to the dealer where they put a new one in, but it was the wrong model or something and as a result, the engine overheated. The heads warped but luckily the dealer replaced the heads on their dime. This was an 03 I believe.

December is historically the best time to buy a vehicle. End of year incentives, bonus cash (or whatever the manu. is offering the dealers) is there and they can make up an loss on a sale in dec. with the bonus they get from the manu. In January, those incentives are all gone. They want to get those used cars off the lot as well.dubi said:
Can you wait a few months? One of our long time car guys posted recently that he expects lots of repos to hit the lots in the next 3-6 months.

People (especially on this forum) swear off brands forever for stuff Ford does all the time and then buy a Ford.
My '20 Ram 2500 has been nails. My '19 F-150 Plat and my '16 Silverado LTZ before that had nothing but problems. Obviously you must base your decisions on MY anecdotal experience not yours or anyone else!
Nice. I have that exact truck but's white. TRD Pro. I even have those same tires on mine. It's a tank for sure but fun to drive. Zero issues so far with anything.nealan said:

I'm on the fence between a Ram 1500 Crew Cab or Tundra Iforce max. Likely both in limited trims. I think I slightly lean Tundra.
