Long travel arms and axles arrived... waiting on 8" shocks and will be ready to install.

Should give me about 2" wider per side and a ton more wheel travel.

Took the F150 in for an oil change at the dealer. Somehow the oil pan cracked around the drain bolt, so she will be sitting at Ford for about a week until the new pan comes in. Thank god it's being replaced under warranty, didn't leak a drop of oil until they filled it with new oil. I'm more annoyed the dealer couldn't give me a loaner since they "can't do that on the weekends"

That sucks, sounds like their mechanic used to much brrrt on their power tool putting the drain bolt back in.

Made it an early weekend and picked up a supercharged Harley F150. Was about a thousand mile round trip. Ecoboost 12th gen with 200k miles handled it with ease. Added some Sumo Springs to it recently and have been really impressed.

Replaced a faulty oil pressure sensor on a friend's '12 GMC Sierra. PITA job - iykyk. Also helped fix his front valance / chin spoiler where it attaches to the bumper. In exchange, he helped me with a woodworking project for my truck bed. Productive day.

Cut and replaced several broken exhaust bolts for the Ranger. Send help on getting the new ones put in.

The following has taken place over several weekends

Got tired of the dim sealed beam halogen headlights in the Nationalist, but I don't want the cheesy LED replacements. To keep the stock look but better performance I ordered the conversion from Headlight Experts. They look just like factory sealed beam lights but the backs are molded to accept LED bulbs.

before with the halogens

LEDs with some reaiming to keep the light going in the somewhat correct pattern.

Also, the salt this winter was getting to the back end.

some sandpaper, primer, and high quality rattle cans got it freshened up. We will see how long it lasts.

Of course, you can't have LEDs in the front but not the back.

the old

installed and lit up

more recently I did rear brake drums, shoes, and a wheel cylinder. Pictures cannot capture the amount of swearing and frustration that project creates. Side note, Hobo Freight brake spring tools bend way too easy.

Had a sidewalk blowout after hitting a little bump or object doing 75 on 290 Tuesday afternoon. Got to the side, limped a couple hundred yards to a nearby overpass and put on the donut spare in the shade at least. Really weird blowout, no apparent impact, damage was a semicircular 1.5" hole dead center of the sidewall.

Took the rim in and got a replacement this morning, put it back on at home, and off to work.

Tomorrow I get to train the exhaust stack on the tractor. Took a hit from a wad of fallen limbs and a treetop.

Trans fluid/filter on my 07 yukon denali today. Fluid was so dirty. I assume this is its second service. Bought with 135k on the clock and changed fluid/filter then (delco/transmax). Added a 40k trans cooler at about 140k, has 170k now. Did i mention its dirty? Like way overdue motor oil dirty...but no sludge, hardly any goo on the magnet, nothing big. Bets on whether or not i make 200k? Last 35k included a lot of towing, now I shouldn't be towing much anymore, but a lot of mountain driving.

Truth. Pro tip for next time: unbolt the trans mount and jack it up until it hits the body, it rotates the motor forward just enough to make that job suck less

Went under car for umpteenth time trying to adjust aftermarket sway bar so it will stop making noise.

Getting under the car not as easy in your 50's as it was 20-30 years prior. I can do it, no real problem, but strange unexpected soreness in random places the next day.

Oil change on the Honda. Threw new tires on the expedition. One wore faster than the others despite regular rotation. I have my suspicions that that rim isn't perfectly shaped but have no idea how to tell for sure. Anyhow, wife was complaining so I took a gamble on the discount tire in-house Rocky Mountain AT tires. They are inexpensive and had pretty good customer ratings. So far quiet and seem good on the road.

Also checked under the Xterra. I'm getting a weird inside edge cupping west pattern on the rear tires, particularly the right rear, which seems weird to me as it is a solid rear axle. I have measured and it seems square to the frame and even ride height. It has new Bilstein 4600 back there.

I put a set of special heavy duty leafs on it but that was 2-3 years back. I don't see any indication of bushing wear. Bearings seem good too. It's weird to me that both tire insides of a solid axle could cup wear. You think it would be the inside of one and outside of the other. Maybe the rims themselves are happening to cause it? I'll have to rotate tires and see if the wear stays with the tires or stays with the axle.

Finally did my own oil change in the new shop with the youngest assistant. Next time I will need to use ramps as the active air dam blocks a skid plate which block the oil filter from being removed. Also spilled oil on the fresh concrete, so the shop is properly christened.

Had my Wrangler towed to the shop last week due to it pulling coolant all over the parking lot at the gym.

I don't have the time (and probably the skill) to fix it myself so should have it back next week with new water pump (case cracked), heater hoses, and thermostat. Oh and $1,200 later.

That's nothing. My Wrangler is spread all across my barn for a jacked up transmission. Putting new clutch on tomorrow and hopefully getting the transmission back next week. Found out why 4WD never worked. Previous owner lifted it and slapped on 35s and I guess ran out of money because the rear diff is 4.56 and the front diff is 3.07. So now I'm watching YouTube videos trying to decide if I want to learn how to re-gear a diff.

Cat helped pull the T-case out.

It's crazy working on a 26 year old vehicle. Should take 5 min to remove the 4 bolts on a U-joint and I'm able to knock it out in 2 hours with a dremel, hack saw, angle grinder, and a bunch of words I hope my kids didn't hear.

Probably more likely the PO ran out of brains. Have a similar helper in my shop as well.

I've done a couple ring & pinion and diff carrier swaps. I find that it's tedious work, but not necessarily difficult. Making a setup bearing is absolute crucial & don't forget to seal the spines on the pinion.

You want higher gears up front so the front tires spin faster and pull you out of the mud hole!
(Kidding)

You're not entirely wrong; a lot of rock bouncers will gear differently to have the front pull slightly harder than the rear… but I'm pretty sure that's not the case here.
