It's not a true truck due to the frame it's built on. That I do know. It's essentially a car shaped liked a truck
Full-size truck owners always seem to be threatened by smaller trucks. This irrelevant factoid comes out with every new unibody model release. Was common for the Honda Ridgeline.
So what if the frame is different? Does it have the capabilities that the customer wants? It's not claiming to be heavy-duty, ready to tow a big RV, or have Tommy-lift mounted to the back. The marketplace clearly has a place for smaller trucks, with appropriate capability and pricing.
In some ways they are more true to what many trucks are used for - basic transportation and occasional light hauling. Full-sized trucks today are made to appear more capable than they really are, getting bigger, more luxurious and expensive without being more technically capable for utilitarian purposes. Bigger wheels and tires get you nothing when the ground clearance hardly changes. A taller ride gets you nothing from your 4wd appearance package. More chrome (or blackout trim) gets you nothing. It's mostly a ruse because guys will pay up to appear more macho. Big hat - no cattle!
