We have a 23 Expy Max XLT. Can't say much on longevity yet, but I love driving it. For a big SUV, it's really quick and maneuverable.

23 max limited here and same thing, can't get over how amazing the turning radius is for these things. Best option for 3 kids (2 in car seats), wife, my big ass and all the **** we haul around. 20k on the odometer right now and no significant mnx issues yet, knock on wood.

Looked at suburbans but interiors were extremely dated when compared to the ford. The diesel almost made me pull the trigger though.

But glad I stumbled upon this thread, reminds me I need to hit up flood ford or Ziegler for my warranty soon, any current recs between these two for a ford esp?

2021 expy with the FX4 package so the boat ramp is a none issue (not that we don't ever just use my truck, I just used this as an excuse for my wife to go with the 4x4). I think we have around 80k miles now. No issues. One thing no one talks about is how much more comfortable ford seats are than GM. We take long trips often to visit family (3.5 hours) and it's a huge factor for both me who drives those drive and my pregnant wife when she has to do it alone. When you test drive, make sure to pay attention to that. Also recommend getting the rear captains chairs. That's been a huge help with easily getting to the 3rd row regardless of carseat side.

I might be selling a 2015 Toyota Sequoia Platinum that is mechanically really solid. It's Blizzard Pearl. Has 150k miles on it. It has minor hail damage. I'm getting an estimate to repair today. My husband might decide to get rid of it. I'm the original owner and I love this car… I would keep driving it despite the really minor damage but my husband would rather not if it doesn't make sense to fix it.

I chose to drive this one instead of the 2019 we have with fewer miles because I like it and trust it more. Bad choice, I guess, but the new one is worth a lot more so…

The Ecoboost is plenty reliable if you stay on top of the maintenance, and maybe put in a good catch can, and use good oil and a good filter. Ours has 310K mostly highway miles on it and runs great except the cats are due for replacement. With this many miles in a no emission county, I'm not spending that money unless I need to. Just don't drive it like a maniac and let it use its torque instead of revving it up and taxing the turbos.

What year models suburban/yukon xl should you avoid/buy?

Is there any difference in the 2015-2019 years?
Looking to find a z71 suburban with the 4th kid.

Think I found the one today. We shall see. 2022 Expedition XLT fully loaded with 43,000 miles. Was a rental but it hadn't even been cleaned yet and was immaculate. Andddd, it's 4WD.

Went and looked at one same year XLT with cloth seats that had just been taken in and it looked like a pack of heathens had lived in it. Stains everywhere.

Meh, while that's my first thought as well this thing looks better maintained than a vehicle owned by an individual. I'm not lying when I say it looked immaculate inside. I realize you run the risk of someone running wide open pedal pushed to the floor when they've rented it but this one didn't give off that feel.

They're also maintained like fleet vehicles, so there's no missing oil changes or other required maintenance. They're cleaned constantly. Most of it is highway/travel mileage.

I took my Dad back up there cause it had a check engine light on and had him scan it before they run it through their shop, was just an evap code. So I've seen it scanned by a mechanic I trust aka family.

But yea I don't know if they'll certify it or not? I don't know the parameters they use to do that.

I'm pretty sure some resident posters here have given some horror stories about the lack of maintenance some rental car companies have done based on their direct experience with them on the servicing side. Is an engine really going to go in the first 35-45k miles with just doing a few oil changes saving them tons of money over their fleet of rentals?

Do they change the oil on rentals?

Do they change the oil on rentals?
Maybe 1x before the auction to make the oil look clean?

I am looking at a Yukon XL as well. Trying to decide between the 6.2L or 3.0L Duramax. Probably going to go test drive later this week.

Duramax. Hands down. 50% better mileage (potentially more). No lifter issue. Way more power, IMO, especially at higher speeds.

Tows way better if you're looking to pull anything.

Got a '24 Expedition Max - top line XLT. Was going to buy used, but everything i found had 75,000 miles on it, no more warranty. Good deal on a 2.9% interest rate. Car payment sucks, but paying on a 6% note sucks more.

I was leery about the ecoboost, but.... I like it. It's got some grunt, mileage is good for a large SUV. Comparing to my parents suburban - by the ever trusty "seat of the pants torque-ometer" Ford takes the cake. Mileage is better too.

Rolling the dice with rentals. Personally I'd stay away.

I will say we hate our 2019 Expedition Platinum. It's one thing after another with this POS (transmission rebuild, cam phaser issue, leather staining, steps don't work, parking sensors constantly acting up, interior seems cheap, etc etc). My wife says "we are never getting another Ford" and I tend to agree. She got to experience the death wobble in my F-250.

We're staying away from the whole shebang right now. Had her all set up with a new one I found in Seguin that had been hit by hail but then repaired that they left the discount on. She just didn't want the $690 a month payments.

I've been looking at used with more miles but wtf do you buy… GM has problems, Ford has problems, Toyotas are higher than giraffe (you know what) for high mileage used.

I'm not all that worried about used being my ole man owns a shop and best friend is a mechanic so if it's ever anything I don't want to mess with, they'll fix it. But I don't really wanna spend $35K on a 70K mile vehicle and be replacing engines or transmissions right away. The full size SUV market really does suck as far as what's being offered.

So I brought home a 2021 XLT FX4 we're thinking about buying and is it just me or is the road noise terrible in these? Seems way louder than my 16 Laramie 2500 w/cummins. So much so even my wife is noticing it.

I have a '24 Yukon XL AT4…absolutely love it. I have driven trucks for the last 15 years but needed SUV for both personal and work and loved the Z71. Chevy's only offer options within packages, so I couldn't get vented seats in the Z71…only Premier. AT4 gave me everything I was looking for (at a bit of a premium). I don't know that I'll buy anything else!

Wife has a '22 Expedition Max XLT. Great vehicle, I don't think it's as comfortable of a ride (even her 2WD vs my 4WD). A bit sensitive in the gas/brake. Wider turn radius too. Also, we have had numerous issues with CarPlay on hers. It may be just an issue with ours? She loves it!

Either one would be a great option if you want extra cargo space.
