First F150, and I'd really like to avoid the pain points of stolen parts or a stolen truck.

So whats in the starter pack?

1) Jimmy jammer tail light screws.
2) Bed cover
3) Ravelco
4) Jimmy jammer punch plug

Anything else? Yeah yeah, I know "drive a crappy old truck and roll the windows down". Well, that ship sailed. So I need to keep this thing buttoned up.

Trade it in on a new tundra

When they steal it the engine will seize during the high speed chase and you will then have your truck immobilized for 50-70 days

I keep my 2002 truck for out of town and city trips. I can buy three of them for the cost of all the stuff you gotta put on a new one to keep it from getting broken into or stolen. I CLEAR IT OUT of stuff. Shine a flashlight inside, there isn't even a piece of paper laying around. It's barren. Then, I park next to someone's nice shiny new Ford truck. Mine looks great, but she'll fade into the crowd next to a new one and they break into those every time and leave mine alone.

Not what you want to hear but you aren't going to prevent a break in if someone has a mind to do it, it doesn't matter how many devices you bought to prevent it.

Personally, I'd rather they just open the door and steal it with a tracker so I could get my undamaged truck back on my own. Kind of like the Jeep guys with rag tops. I do have an AirTag in all of my trucks though but that's as much expense as I'm willing to throw at it.

Air tag is a good idea.

Can those be deactivated by someone with a scanner of some kind?

Yeah, just trying to make smash and grab of parts much harder. I too keep nothing in the truck.

Good news is that the later model Ford trucks aren't being targeted for theft so much (as in taking the whole truck).

I've seen a couple of recent videos where people have aftermarket alarms. As soon as the siren sounds off, the pinche ratas scatter

If they have an iPhone, they will know they are being tracked and they can disable it.

But they need to find it to fully kill it, so hide it well.

They can disable their phone from sending tracking info, but they won't be able to disable Karen's phone from sending data when it picks up her phone in whatever hood they end up at.

It's not foolproof or guaranteed and you need to be prepared to track it yourself immediately and do something about it. If you have to wait for the cops they won't do anything quick enough and it will be a waste of time.

No need for any of those if you got the powerboost like me. It will say "stop safely now" and "full power accessory mode" and won't even start.

So, anytime you pass an air tag walking on the street your phone notifies you you're relaying the location of one to the cloud? Or they've got to be aware to look on their phone at an app to see if there's one nearby that it's picking up?

Once an AirTag has been following a particular phone for awhile, the user gets a notification. All them disabling it does is prevent the AirTag from using their phone to ping location. If another iPhone comes within range, the AirTag will still work.

They have to find the physical device to actually disable (destroy or remove battery).

From my experience, it takes 12-24 hours for it to notify you. So find it before then.

As far as waiting for the cops, tell them you are on your way to XYZ address to recover your stolen truck. You are armed and they are welcome to meet you there.

When staying at a hotel, I put a cell game camera on the floor aimed at the door. Could put a second one inside the truck bed under the topper. In Raton tonight with my truck outside the hotel room.
Driveway gate and dog at home.
