Question on damaged paint

How long do you want to ignore this user?

My truck was in an accident before I purchased it. I presume that it was not repaired in a quality body shop as evidenced by the pictures.

Is this something that can be fixed with a polisher and rubbing compound? Something tells me that the clearcoat is toast. If so, is that something that can be done DIY on a minimal budget? As you can see from the swirl marks and poor touch-up jobs, I am not the least bit skilled when it comes to paint repair.

That's a scuff, paint and fade in my untrained opinion. Not DIY.

I guess it could be but might want to do it a few hundred times on someone else's car first.

Your clear coat on the repaired area has failed. This happens with quality body shops too.

You can sand/buff to take some of the chalk out but it'll still look bad. Only way to fix is to repaint
