Who do you guys like for car insurance? I am looking to shop around and find a better deal. We need two car insured that are both paid off.

Progressive has really good rates for me right now. No claim experience with them other than they wouldn't cover a cracked windshield without me paying my full deductible.

Safeco - Criminals, stay away from these scum bags!

Esurance - They ended up paying fair value for my truck after I totaled it but I had to fight for it with more realistic comps than their appraisal and they refused to cover my aftermarket modifications even though I had an aftermarket modification add on policy. The reason was that I bought the truck with the modifications and they only covered new modifications - something they never disclosed prior to my claim. They did eventually agree to allowing me to strip the truck to original condition in the copart lot. Jacked my rates up and I ditched them.

USAA - Quoted me $700 a month for coverage about a year ago and I'm paying just over $300 now for the same limits. My old man ditched them after having a terrible claims experience when he hit a cow.

I've just gone through with this exercise for my StateFarm renewal and it has been going up for the 2 renewal even though I have home policy with them.

It turned out both Progressive and AllState have better rates overall. However, after finding out from StateFarm that my home policy would go up by over 2 grand per year if I canceled the auto policy which would literally offset any discount I could get by switching all cars to AllState. I ended up getting a new policy for one car at Hagerty, one car for a teenager at AllState and leaving 2 cars at StateFarm so I get to keep the home policy discount that has 1% deductible for storms/hurricane which isn't available anymore from other carriers that I know of.

I bundle home and auto through Geico which has consistently gotten me the lowest rates. I shop around each year and haven't found a better overall price yet and that includes going through brokers like Liere.

it is all based on actuarial tables and customer demographics. you have to shop around for the best deal and we all will get different results. I have SF. Home is massively overpriced against others but auto is massively cheaper. the bundling discount also goes away when you split it up. which makes in the same range as others. USAA was like 3k extra for the same house without even considering auto.

find a broker and let them do it for you.

I switched to State Farm from Geico and was with somebody else for home but after switching I saved over $100/month combined.

I actually had a good experience with Safeco for the last few years up until my last renewal and the increase was just too much to bear.

Home and Auto bundled through Farmers has been wonderful for almost 5 years now. USAA, Safeco, all the big guys haven't been able to beat it when I policy shop each year.

I spend s lot of $ with SF. Been with them for years. 5 cars. Home insurannce. Umbrella policy. Have had a couple of car accidents. Not dropped or increased rates.

You can shop around. But a claim may get you dropped.

Tx Farm Bureau for us. I text my agent if I have any questions or need a new policy w/ vehicle change etc. Super easy.

Gave State Farm the middle finger. I hit a cow in middle of night and totaled a truck. After them having the estimate for 2 weeks with no movement, I asked the agent what the status was, and the response was "I don't know what you want me to do about it".

So as soon as I got my check from them I told him exactly what he could do.

Grandparents had a similar experience with Farmers....

I would recommend shopping all the majors. I personally have been with Progressive for years, except for a year with State Farm.

A year or so ago, I did decide to move everything to State Farm; that ended up being a ridiculous mess. They literally lost a car, it just disappeared from my policy without notice, explanation, or anything else, and my agent didn't care or look into it... really unprofessional, not to mention it put me in major jeopardy. They also could not account very well. They asked for payment months in advance, which I find terribly annoying; a few months later, when payment was actually due, I logged in to find I owed nothing. Confused, I audited my books to see if I'd made a payment mistakenly, but I hadn't. Their system had NO record of any transactions. Yet I owed nothing, it claimed. Again my agent had no answer.

State Farm's online system is also a joke. It took me weeks to add new vehicles to the policy. I can do it in seconds with Progressive.
