I'm ready to upgrade my Sync 2

I'm looking for wireless car-play and want to maintain the climate control

So the question is:

1. just do the Sync 3 upgrade?
2. get an aftermarket head unit - which ones keep the climate control?

I did the Sync3 upgrade in my 2014 and it has been a game changer. It wasn't cheap, but having CarPlay while maintaining all of the other controls is awesome. Sync3 uses the screen real estate a lot better than Sync2.

Just want to make sure i'm not missing something in an aftermarket unit that provides same funcitionality.

Also Sync 3 is pretty old but I do like the plug and play

Do the Sync 3 upgrade.

Infotainment.com or 4DTech.com has all the parts and will come set up to your VIN already. (or you can piece them together on ebay)

I did this in my 2014 F250. Game changer. It would do climate but wouldn't show the little wheel for temps I think. But I had the buttons below the screen anyways.

Brother just did his raptor (2011 or 12 model I think?). You can ebay the factory parts cheaper, but less headache to purchase the kits from 4DTech/Infotainment

Saw these guys pop up on some forums while google searching. Called him and he was super nice. Think i am going to pull the trigger on the Sync 3 upgrade with the sync 4 HD screen. Says $680

Got mine today but am waiting on one wiring adapter for the usb hub that this company sends via Amazon. Not a big deal. I have it fired up and the system is much more responsive.

I didn't look hard enough, so I guess I need the Bluetooth adapter thing ($160) to run CarPlay without a wire. Got the whole setup for $640 with a discount code but now plus $160 for the Bluetooth thing. $800 all in.

How long did it take to install? Is your wired usb connections in the center console?

Received mine today and need to figure out when I can install

Let me know how it works out. I need to upgrade my stock navigation in my 2015 f150.

Is there hardware and software involved? How much? I have 2014 F150 and was thinking about this the other day?

I got my kit from Amazon. The seller reached out through Amazon after I purchased the kit and asked for my VIN. They did the programming so when it got delivered all I had to do was install the hardware. Several YouTube videos available that show exactly how to do the swap. It took me all of 1.5 hrs one afternoon. It was around $600 if I remember correctly, but that was a few years ago.

I ended up going that route.

So far, I really like it. I can get in the truck and Google Maps pulls up immediately.

The voice command to switch to Bluetooth audio is way faster than Sync2.

Waze works great as well.

Finally got around to installing mine from intelligent1tech. Vey simple. Took about 1 hour. Instructions were basically non existent but there are good videos out there.
