I will need to replace (6) Duracell 6-Volt batteries in my EZGO golf cart. Should I just get another set of the same brand batteries or are there better choices available? A set of six was priced at $1,200 at Interstate Battery, which seems expensive but everything is expensive these days. Not sure what a set of new Duracell batteries cost currently if that's the way to go. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You might want to look into upgrading to lithium. I don't know all of the details but supposedly it's not that much more than lead acid these days since lithium batteries have gotten cheaper.

Upgrade to lithium. There are a bunch of different kits out there for your cart, and if you are even mildly handy, you should be able to install yourself.

When my 4x12v batteries are done, I'm upgrading for sure. I already melted a post and had to replace one, because I forgot to refill the stupid distilled water. Of course, my wife never checks the water level, so if I forget to do it regularly, she takes the cart out and strands it somewhere.

It's a 2006 base model that was redone with a Jake's lift kit and larger tires added. Not sure of the model no.

Amazon kits are the right price, but the quality makes me a bit nervous unless there's a brand you know or you are strict about reading reviews of certain brands.

I have a 2014 ezgo 36v and replaced with this (https://a.co/d/2IizZZO).

That plus a charger and it was basically plug and play. Cart shed 100+ lb and is noticeably quicker and lasts longer. Never measured how far, but I've had it for 8 months and charged it 5x tot.

Here is the same battery with a charger and display on Amazon

All in price with charger and display is ~$1,800, but the one Mr. Bro linked is a 150Ah vs. the 105Ah Rhino kit I posted for the same price. If you need extended range, the CHINS option may be more appealing, albeit an option with less of a plug and play installation kit.

It is great. Fits right into the battery bracket. Sheds about 300 pounds off the cart, so it run fast now. You have to buy the charger too. Old chargers won't work with lithium. I got mine on Black Friday last year. Maybe wait a few weeks and do the same.

Check your local interstate battery warehouse/distributor. They have batteries that are out of date and 90 day warranty that are a 1/3 or less vs new. Econoline I believe is what they call them.

You can buy a car battery there for around $70. They'll have those batteries. You just have to call and see what's available in the out of date section.

I have a pretty good charger for the old style batteries that I don't use anymore. I will sell it pretty cheap if anyone is interested. I posted it in the classified a while back and can probably dig up the pics and specs if anyone is interested.

I converted our 48v EZGO to lithium last spring. We have been extremely satisfied with the result. We went with Eco Battery. Took me a couple of hours to install it. I think I paid about $2700 for the battery/charger bundle. I would highly recommend.

So the greatest civilization is one where all citizens are equally armed and can only be persuaded, never forced. It removes force from the equation... and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

Looks like a great package. I have a refurbished 2006 EZGO with a 36 volt system. Any concerns about slightly higher voltage being generated with the lithium battery? Matthew with Corpus Christi Golf Cars expressed this issue with older EZGO models, so he said to be very careful about doing a conversion. He works on a bunch of golf carts so I'm inclined to listen to him rather than have problems. Any thoughts on this issue?

I got my bundle at Mulligans in Ponder. He said that it is not enough voltage difference to matter. I have had it on my cart since March and have not had any issues. He said it is kind of like your alternator in your car. They put out about 14.5 volts to charge your 12 volt car battery. The charger is mounted in the cart. You just have to plug it in with a regular extension cord. The battery only weighs about 100 lbs. It weighs less than two of the lead acid batteries. The weight reduction gives the cart more power and speed.

What kind of range do you think you're getting out of that setup? I have a 48V 2003 Yamaha cart that'll need a new set before long. I'm always worried about running out of battery way down the lake roads and having no good way to get it back home.

I was told my old lead-acid setup was around 60 amp-hours. The lithium setup is 105 amp-hours. Should last almost twice as long. It definitely lasts longer but we have never had it below about 45%. With our old setup, if we were using it a lot during the day, we would have to give it a charge in the afternoon then charge it overnight. With the L-ion battery, it will last all day and only have to charge at night. So we are definitely getting more out of it than the old lead-acid batteries.

I would guess that we get at least 25 miles out of a charge. Depends on how many are riding and how hilly it is.

I follow this guy and saw this video drop as I was looking at this thread. This one sounds like it may be a bust unless you want a budget battery, but he talks about recommendations too.

What others are saying. I am going through the same thing and it was almost the same price to buy a lithium kit. I found one on sale and went with it. It is supposed to be here by Friday, so we will see how that goes.

Here is the tip.
All your electronics on the cart run on 12 volts. Your new big battery only puts out 36 or 48, depending on which one you buy that is specific to your motor. You will need to buy a step down from the 36/48 to 12. Wire in the step down and then wire a bus bar to the step down and connect all your electronics to the bus bar. Take a video how everything is wired up before unhooking it all. You can get the step down and bus bar on amazon for like $20 each. You will have lots of room with all the old batteries removed. I cut a couple 2x4's to size and screwed them to the empty battery bracket. I then screwed the step down and bus to the wood.
Remember you can recycle the old batteries at the metal recycle place. I think I got like $60 for mine. Better than nothing.
