Thru poor planning on my part I need rear brake pads today. I do the work myself (replaced all pads and rotors last time) and I need to know the best value pads I can get locally. Akebono pads are available at napa but they cost double of what rockauto charges.

Maybe that is what I am forced to go with but I wanted to open it up to the forum for some local retail recs in the fort Worth area that are less than 90 for a pair of rear brake pads on Honda pilot 2014. If not napa, should I go with an AutoZone, Walmart, O'Reilly? Or should I hit up a brake shop to see if they have high quality pads that I could buy from?

Look at the website of all your local parts houses. One of them will have a pop up ad with some sort of coupon.

Ask them to price match or come close to rock. Autozone does that for me all the time.

All I see for local shops are options for them to do the service or brake pads replacement. Nothing on the parts themselves sadly. I may just call them and see

Duralast Gold from Autozone is very low dust and perfectly fine for a Pilot. I've used them in a number of daily driving applications. The regular Duralast pads in the blue box are fine but dust A LOT, so buyer beware. The black box Gold pad is much, much better.

Surely you can find those Duralast Golds in Fort Worth today.

ETA: I don't know your trim or your address. But per a search I just ran, the Golds are readily available in Fort Worth.

Yeah I looked at them and they are very available. I just wasn't sure if those duralasts were any good as a daily driver (50 miles RT to work and back). Thanks for the feedback on them

Based on my previous experience buying from or shopping NAPA online, they would be my last resort for parts I needed the same day.

They rarely actually match $ for $ and I don't expect them to. Most times they'll apply an internal 40% off which makes it comparable vs ridiculous

OEX are fantastic pads, but don't think they're stocked in stores.

I put Wagner OEX pads (from RockAuto) on my Jetta, and the brake dust is insane. They're supposedly ceramic but they make more dust than most semi-metallic pads. (Both the OEM VW front pads these replaced, and the O'Reilly BrakeBest Select ceramic currently on the rear, have minimal dust.)

Performance is good but I'm considering replacing them, even though they have a ton of life left, due to the brake dust.

Funny you mention this. I put on a set of Wagner ThermoQuiet ceramics from RockAuto and they have dusted like crazy. I'm constantly having to clean my wheels and I'm thinking of changing them out just because of that.

What's puzzling -- I've used ThermoQuiets in the past and never had a dusting problem. Beats the hell outta me.

Yeah that's strange, because my OEX pads on the Armada hardly dust at all.
