Looking at buying previous gen Expy or 'hoe (can't bring myself to pay sticker for new). I've owned Ford since I turned 16 (though learned to drive on a stick c/k 1500). Never have owned a turbo. I know the 10 speed has had issues in the Ford. The Duramax is a bit of a dog off the line but great mpg. I've heard the Chevy seats are uncomfortable for long drives. My planned use is daily driver on a modest commute, family road trips, possibly pulling a smaller camper. And I keep my vehicles forever, as my '06 can attest to. Which would you go for?

Just buy a late 22 (November) or newer Expedition and the transmission issue goes away.

My stepfather drives his father's 2000 Expedition, and has only had minor issues overall, although I did replace a taillight I accidentally busted about 18 months ago.

We've had:

Expy, Expy, Navigator, Expy in that order and have never had any real issues. First was the boat anchor engine, all the rest were turbo 3.5.

Our current Expy is a 2023 Limited four wheel drive. The only issue is that the giant touch screen is buggy sometimes.

ETA: I also had a GMC AT4 Sierra with the duramax for a while. I like the engine but man were the seats uncomfortable. I think that was a 22 so not sure if they've been changed since then.
