21 Expy Has The Absolute WORST Infotainment System

It will never ever EVER auto connect to Bluetooth and defaults to some random AM radio station every single time. We don't even listen to AM radio. We could be in the car listening to FM radio, connect Bluetooth and listen to that and next time we get in it will say it cant connect and default to a static AM station.

Then, to connect to Bluetooth, you have to press no less than 7 buttons on the screen to get it to connect.

It is just absolute garbage. Anyone else have these issues? Idk if it is sync 2 or 3, but it is so annoying every time we drive it.

I have a 24 Tahoe that does the same thing. My $300 head unit from crutchfield in my Pontiac is perfect.

What's ridiculous is that my 2013 f150 never ever has a problem. Connects instantly every single time. How tf do they go backwards in almost a decade.

not specifically, does disconnecting the battery not essentially do that though?

FWIW, this is not an issue we have in our '21 Expy, but it does revert to AM if her phone isn't around. That part is weird.

The '23 F-150 infotainment is so much better, though.

Same experience in my 2020 F150. I don't know if it's the same generation, but like you said it's almost always 7 or so screen touches and fingers crossed to get it to connect.

I'm not sure but I am 100% not switching to an iPhone because my work iphone is 10x more annoying than this system.

Power button and seek forward buttons. Hold them down and wait for the screen to blink out.

Also if you haven't updated your APIm, try that.

Cyanlabs has a great free updater. Read before you do it though.

I've taken our 2020 Expy in for work on the infotainment system and I've done the hard reset hundreds of times. It still has issues and always starts out on an AM station every time we start the car. It's straight trash.

That's frustrating. My old phone caused my nav to mess up on me. It's been great since I got a new one last year, though. I had some Bluetooth issues with other speakers, so it wasn't a huge surprise that it wasn't working.

You might want to try resetting your phone too, just to be sure. Good luck.

I see your 21 expy and raise you my 2010 f150. No Bluetooth at all. Phone connects with a 3.5mm jack. Oh and the radio puked so I just use a Bose speaker so I guess it's got Bluetooth now.

You can buy a $150 unit online that works perfectly. Good tech is cheap these days.

That is half my point. My truck with a system 8 years older than this works flawlessly. How on earth do they go backwards?

I swapped ours out for the Autotec Pro.

CarPlay and Android auto. It's basically a tablet.

Still have access to Fordpass and the original console.

Is that plug and play or do you have to mess with putting in new harnesses and the like? I assume they make trim kits and what not? Long gone are the years of going to traders village and getting a double din kit to install the smoking hot new pioneer head unit with dolphin graphics.

It was mostly plug and play. I added a forward facing camera so I had to do some extra wiring.

It's made specifically for the Expedition so fit is decent for Chinesium.
