Since y'all helped me navigate the blown oil cooler issue a few months back, I'm hopeful y'all can help me through the latest crisis with this 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited, front wheel drive, 9 speed ZF transmission. It's got about 136k on the meter, and my daughter has had it for almost a year and put about 11k on it. Intermittently, since shortly after purchasing it, it's thrown a P0934 code, shown a "Service Transmission" message and goes into limp mode. The code apparently relates to a pressure sensor in the transmission, but my research has not found any cases where a sensor was actually identified and replaced. It seems to be a very common problem with this transmission and most cases I've read about result in the dealer/shop resetting or clearing the code. Typically and up til now, the code either clears itself after cycling the ignition or can be cleared using a code reader and the transmission performed normally after clearing the code and message. Now the code won't clear. Yesterday, it wouldn't move when the shifter was moved through the gears. Didn't register a gear and wouldn't move. I disconnected the battery for about 30 minutes to see if that would clear the code but that didn't work. I did manage to get it to register a gear and actually move (after a couple of hard shifts into/out of reverse, drive etc), so now it seems to be back in limp mode, but the code will still not clear.
I knew this was coming, that I'd end up having to take it somewhere and I had hoped I'd have a place identified by now, but I don't. I need to find a place that is honest and could actually resolve this, even if it means worst case scenario of full rebuild or replacement.
Thanks for your help Automotive board!
