Does anyone have a go-to mobile mechanic or specific place they like to bring used cars before purchase? Live in Plano and work in Dallas. We're in the market for a used car for a new high school driver and I have not bought from a private party before. Hoping to get some reassurance that the car isn't going to have immediate issues or have a bunch of deferred maintenance needed immediately.

When we purchased our last used car from a private party, I requested that the seller meet me at my mechanic's location with the car so he could inspect it. The seller agreed and didn't have any problem doing that.

Most repair shops and dealership service departments have a labor code for UVI which is a Used Vehicle Inspection where they do anywhere from .5 to 1 hour write up on the things that would normally be repaired on a used car at a dealership. No reason your trusted mechanic can't do this for you upon request.
