Car must have been unlocked in a parking lot or something and they popped the hood is my only guess. Thieves should be shot. .22 cal behind the ear. $0.25 solution.

You sure you didn't set it down somewhere last oil change? More frequently than I'd like I've had something in hand, set it down, and then couldn't find it for months later when I started looking for it to finish the job, or I just completely forgot I set it down.
I've never taken it off. There is no need to to change the oil. This goes for my 2013 with same engine as well.
That's a $89 part. Nobody stole your engine cover.

Our 2023 bought new came without one from the factory. They discontinued them at some point, not sure what year.
Looks like sometime in 2020 or 2021 they were discontinued per my googling
There are some shops that take them off and neglect to put them back on, and others that will take them off and sell them knowing the customer won't notice for a while.
$143 from Ford is what I saw. That's exactly what I thought as well about the battery. Makes no sense.
The fact is that it was there when I changed the oil a couple months ago and it isn't there when I popped the hood today. I've done no work to the car and it hasn't been to a shop. I've never removed the engine cover on either one of my Ford's so if you can come up with another explanation I am all ears.

I mean, there's lying and then there's lying. Like, did you take the front end of your f150 completely apart and leave the country for a month? Because you can see how something like that would cause her to want to take her vehicle to a shop without mentioning it...
Ha I haven't started on the truck yet, parts are sitting in the shop. I also haven't been away from home for a month in a couple years. Most I do is two weeks for the most part and with her schedule with the kids and her business it would have to be the absolute fastest shop on earth to do anything on her packed timeline. The car hasn't been anywhere but parking lots and driveways.

Are you sure it was there? A lot of the new Ford don't have them now but don't remember what YM this trend started with.

100%. I've done 80k miles worth of oil changes on it.
Somebody was in there for something and either took it on purpose, or forgot to reinstall.
Doubt someone broke in and stole it.
