Adding youngest child to policy next month so it will be 3 kids (22,20 and 16), wife and myself. 4 vehicles…. Quote today is saying $870/mo. $350 per month increase over current payment. Insane!

We drive older cars so considering tripling deductibles. Anyone else do same recently? Any other methods to lower monthly premium?

I recently did that on my son's truck. Is there a general rule of thumb for resale value or age of vehicle where it doesn't make sense to carry collision?

I'd compare the difference in premium vs cost to replace.

Wait I just realized I've had one at fault accident that barely dented my bumper in close to 30 years of driving. I should cancel collision.

What County and can you move to a lower cost County?

Insurance down in Galveston County is high and Harris is worse.

Also, any cars you don't drive?
I've got a really inexpensive collector call policy for one of my cars that I don't drive as much

When I went through this with kids, I found the majority of the cost for them was in the liability portion. Which make sense , I guess. So cutting collision made no significant difference.
