Have several codes coming up and wondering if it's worth taking to a mechanic or driving it off Mount Aggie.

C1130 Engine Signal Circuit Fault
P17F1 Transmission Control Module Error

Originally, I had a mass air flow sensor error so ai replaced it. That code came off my scanner but still coming up on Autozone's.

I'm lost. This was supposed to be my daughter's car for her freshman year at A&M but hoping it's not gonna kill me fixing it.

any driveability issues? or noticing anything in the CVT?

It seems to kind of surge randomly but slightly with cruise and braking and tends to be slightly odd. It's drivable for sure but I'm scared to.

I drove at 65 on cruise and you can just slightly feel it rev up a little. I'm not even talking bad but slight.

Check the trans fluid color and level. Maybe try a drain-and-fill. If that doesn't work, well, could be bad news.

Doing some research online, and it could be the transmission valve body needs to be replaced. Expensive but not as bad as replacing the whole unit. Good luck.

Not to be discouraging but this almost exact series of codes happened to one of my employees last week with their 2016 Rogue. Same thing started with MAP sensor code, he changed it. Didn't help. Same issues with RPM running up. After chasing a few codes Nissan said needed new transmission. They junked the car bc it was base model with 135k miles on it. Those CVTs just don't last.

Looks like the C1130 code is set anytime there is an issue with TCM or ECM. It is a code sent from ABS module to indicate that information is being pulled by another module. This happens when the offending module is showing an issue with it's inputs/outputs.

In other words it is a generic code.

I'm not sure of the reasoning but I've seen many times where a misfire can trigger traction control, abs lights, radar cruise warnings, etc... in Toyotas and other cars.

The P171F is a "Judder" code that indicates there is an issue with valve body or belt in CVT.

I think a new CVT (or car) is in your future.

No!!!! Ok. Bracing for it. Thank you.

So...if I can pass emissions can I drive it until it runs poorly? Currently it's very drive able. It doesn't really "rev". I can just feel it.

i mean, sure. drive it as long as you can. i just wouldn't consider it a viable long term option for handing it down, unless you just give it to her and see how long it hangs in there.

these CVTs are crap unfortunately

How many miles are on the car? They extended the CVT warranty coverage for 2015-2018 Pathfinders to 84 months/84k miles, but that's still outside of your range just based on age.

Has the CVT fluid been changed at all over the life of the car (usually every ~60k miles is recommended).

Its 144K.

No. It hasn't been changed. I might do that first.

Kind of frustrated. Brough to mechanic. They said I have to bring it to a transmission place because they don't check it. They also said the only code they're getting is the MAF.

If it were me, I would get the CVT fluid changed ASAP, clear the codes, and see if anything comes back. That fluid is 2.5x it's intended life cycle, and it's probably affecting the CVT belt's ability to grab.

I've read on Nissan forums about vehicles with driveability issues (jerking, slipping, etc) with high mileage (130k+) CVT that was never maintained, change fluid, and the problem goes away.

It's a $250 service at the Nissan dealership.

Thanks! I'll do that!!!

Welp, just talked to two transmission shops and they both said it's prob a lost cause. Said they could diagnose it but from what they've seen once the code comes up it's over.
