Has anyone put D-ring shackles on their safety chain loop on their Super Duty?

The new hooks on these things is huge and hard to get safety chains attached. I've seen suggestions of putting a permanent D-ring shackle attached but can't find any (I think) that are big enough/wide enough for the pin to fit around the attachment on the bumper.

Any of you big time tow guys put these on?

Had some on my first F250 we used to tow our travel trailer. Now I just insert the hooks from the opposite way.

any idea how wide the area is where the pin would "sit" on the bracket? complaints are these newer one have a very wide bracket.

I just measured and mine is 1" wide. So I'd need 1" of the pin in-between the D-ring for it to sit appropriately.

I used something very similar to the link above on my 2017. Safety chains of larger trailers wouldn't seat properly in the stock holes.

Knowing I wasn't taking the clevis off, I went ahead and used red locktite on the pin threads so I wouldn't worry about one coming off.
