after reading this thread and all the other history about them on this forum, you are still wanting to go buy a car from them?

unreal

Looks like all the horror stories are from the service department. All car dealers are crooks, so you might as well go to one with the best prices, plus they happen to have the exact truck that I'm looking for that is pretty hard to find in my area.

It's sad we have to live this this

I mean... This thread was a service issue.

But there have been complaints about sales, too. Example

Oh, and the dealer jumped on here to start a fight with this community with some irrelevant BS video. Link

Don't forget that Keating Auto Group owns APEX. Nothing nefarious there either... More info

There's plenty more if you look. My opinion - not all crooks are equal. Protect yourself out there.

Sounds like 1939 might be the last time that poster purchased a vehicle based on their gullibility.

Didn't end up going there. The truck I wanted to look at had sold, and they did tell me that over the phone so at least they didn't lie about that.

They flatout saw this thread and flatout told you the truck that didn't exist sold to try to save face.

Won't be able to convince me otherwise.

No need for us to squabble amongst ourselves. The important thing is that we all remember our bonds as fellow Ags and hate Keating dealerships.

Was really close to replying to the poster asking where he got it but decided to refrain

Business must be good for the crooks. There's a new sucker born everyday, and they all get their cars from Keating

Former service advisor here (not for Keating), we got paid on commission from the number of hours of service we wrote.

Service was done based on flagging hours, i.e. how long the job "should" take. So if a tech does an oil change, for instance, the flag rate across the industry (at the time) was .4 hours. Tire rotation was .5 hours. If the tech could get both done in 15 minutes they still got paid for .9 hours.

Parts markup was usually around 200% or higher, that's where the money was made.

I'm a service writer for a trailer company and it's a similar situation. My pay structure is hourly with overtime but no benefits.

And that's why they are called stealerships.

Wow. I ran an 18 bay shop for Monkey Ward a long time ago….late '80s. We used Chilton or Mitchell for flag time. If a guy was good and fast, he could make some nice coin. Come-backs paid 25%.
Outside parts purchases were marked up 40%. I doubt work would've been done at 200% markup.

Side story: the security guy hated me and tried to fire me every chance he got. One time I got dragged into the office with him, HR, store mgr, etc. They pop out a guideline stating the 40% markup for outside parts and tell me I'm only doing 28%. After a heated discussion and a call to an accountant, they figured out they were looking for 40% profit instead of markup like the guideline stated. It felt good to be 20 yrs old and prove to a bunch of upper management that they were wrong. I burned off from there a couple of weeks later. Didn't need the headache.
