Sorry for the separate thread but I got caught a little.off guard by a test drive I got talked in to.

What's the concensus on these? I know they're fairly new, and I'm skeptical of stellantis products in general, but I just test drove a 4x4 full cab truck and absolutely loved it.

It doesn't help that the two demos I looked at are cheaper than any other 4wd option on the market by several thousand dollars, and might get me out the door with a fullsize truck I really can use( and yes I use a truck as a truck, but also have 4 people to that around on a regular basis ....) for a price I can afford.

They call it a hurricane for a reason…. Cause it blows

I genuinely have no idea but felt obligated to add that comment

From what I'm hearing out of the dodge/ram folks in various places they may bring a 5.7 back in the next two years. I know they shuttered the current gen production, but even stellantis is saying they're working on another v8.

I will say this six really performed quite well for what it is, even in a big truck. He told me to get on it, and even not wide the hell open( thank you txdot construction) it had as much go as my tacoma did. I've driven an older hemi ram, and it was comparable.

Im starting to get that feeling. I HATE having to get a vehicle, but I have no real choice. I also refuse to pay near new prices for a vehicle with 60k+ miles on it...

Sounds like Ram is doing what Ford has been doing for over 10yrs. Yawn

Basically, but ram is not convinced that calling your truck a platinum package does not mean the stupid truck is MADE from platinum.

Every f150 I've seen is a bloody disaster that start 10-15k above the Chevy/dodge/toyota. We're a Ford/Toyota family for the most part growing up, I havent even wasted my time at a ford dealership

Well, that's a 180.

They fired that ceo that was screwing everything up so bad, that helps. Unfortunately I don't see a v8 charger coming back.

It's a shame, the new chargers are actually nice LOOKING cars but...

Coworker just got one. Great performance, really fun to drive from what he says. Reliability remains to be seen, as with all turbo engines and especially with it being Stellantis. What kind of warranty are they offering? I may be in the market soon and the prices are attractive

Factory is 3/36k and 6/60k power train I think. I'll come back and post if I buy one and let you know!

Anyone have opinions on southwest dodge in cleburne?

Ford charges more because they can. When the F150 isn't the best selling vehicle in America that might change. And disaster? Vs Dodge/Ram/Jeep reliability?
Ag_of_08

It's no longer the best selling, and yes they've had massive reliability issue at double or more the price of a comparable truck.

I know at least 6 people off the top of my head that have had f150s bought back or engines entirely replaced. I don't know of a single person with a ford not having major issues.

Also know more than a couple of people in fleet mgmt... even the police interceptor packages are having issues at low mileage.

I'm not claiming dodge or Chevy is better, I'm saying Ford is having the same disasters and stupidity as the other at double the price. For the "best selling vehicle", their lots are still carrying 24s and 23s in a lot of places.

Theyre having immense sales issues now, and that comes straight from the dealerships.

I'm an "inline 6" fan.

From the Dodge Slant 6 to the Ford 300 Straight 6 to the Cummins 5.9 12V and 24V to the Diesel in the 1986 Mack MH tractors.

Like anything else on new automotive products, time will tell. I was hesitant to get the twin turbo baby boost in my F150 but it has more HP and Torque than my 2010 4.6L.

I'll be interested to see the performance over a several year period. Good luck if you get one.

They have even had rumblings about the V8 coming back to the Ram.

I've been watching a lot of videos by automotive Youtubers about the hurricane engine. So far, you can sum it up as:
- very good acceleration & horsepower
- mileage not nearly as good as you might expect
- long term reliability TBD, but these early trucks are experiencing teething pains (particularly the RHO)

this is a common theme among turbo engines. they know how to use them to game the mileage tests. rear world however is much different.

no. it's coming back. in fact, i'd bet money it shows up in the next generation Jeep Gladiator.

I should have added that the mileage is still better than the hemi, but its closer than you might expect.

So the greatest civilization is one where all citizens are equally armed and can only be persuaded, never forced. It removes force from the equation... and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

I honestly think the 5.0 V8 and the normal 3.5 ecoboost have the same exact mileage if you include towing. My 3.5 tows like a diesel but it gets about 7mpg when I am pulling trailer and ranger. Part of that is speed related but I think the 5.0 gets about 9-10 according to the folks I know that pull a similar trailer.

Yep! After watching lots of YouTube reviews on motors, I think I'm going with the Ford 5.0 or the GM 3.0 diesel for my next truck. My wife has the latter and it's been solid so far

I would stay away from any new turbos. Ecoboost has been out over 10 years now, so Ford has worked out the issues.

Toyota's sterling quality reputation has taken a serious hit. 2025s are still seeing the same issues that they supposedly fixed and have an open recall for over 100,000 engine replacements.

I wouldn't want an early Dodge version of a turbo engine. If Toyota can't get it right, are you going to trust Dodge?
