How long do you want to ignore this user?
Wife's car wouldn't start last weekend after sitting for a few days. I believe it's a parasitic draw as this isn't th first time it has died after being parked for a few days. Battery was replaced the last time.

Last night I use my multimeter to try and find which fuse circut is drawing power but after 50mins of the multimeter reading amps the car will be "asleep" down at 50mAs for a bit and then shoot back up to 4 Amps.. this cycle repeats and it never goes to sleep so I can track it down fuse by fuse.

Any idea what could cause the vehicle to constantly go back and forth between asleep and awake when reading the amps from the negative side of the battery with the multimeter in series with the negative cable and the negative post on the battery? There is no visual indicator that anything is drawing the 4amps i see on the meter when it cycles back on. The internet says it can take 30-45 mins for them to to drop completely down in the amp draw but I was beyond that time.

May seem odd but have you moved where you keep your keys? My wife has a Range Rover Sport that has a second battery for accessories like the lift gate powered door handles. After a couple of months of ownership the 2nd battery kept dying.

Read online that if the proximity key can make contact with the car then it will constantly "wake up" the computer(s).

Started keeping the keys in a Faraday box and we haven't had the issue since.

I had the key about 30ft away from the car during the test, but I suppose thats worth a try. Only issue I see is that when it was left at the airport her keys would have been with her so it wouldnt have been waking up all weekend. Appreciate the response!

Have you tested the battery to make sure it's good? They did replace with an AGM, right?

this is a great video on how to set up a draw test

I suggest go on line or contact a local shop and asked if there others who had this issue. I would then start pulling fuses one at a time for what you suspect may be the cause of your problem if the draw stops you found the issue.

1. Common Causes of Parasitic Draw:

    .Opens in new tab
A loose or corroded connection, or a damaged wire, can create a short circuit, which can cause a continuous flow of current and drain the battery.

    .Opens in new tab
Some computer modules in the vehicle may not be going into a sleep mode, drawing power even when the car is off.

    .Opens in new tab
A malfunctioning alternator can also contribute to parasitic drain.

  • [url=https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1CAPUVO_enUS1053US1053&cs=0&sca_esv=50afecde28fc5d24&sxsrf=AHTn8zou9vww6GLZwnERYxrwPjrd2ocBNA%3A1746190532450&q=Non-Ford%2FLincoln+Apps&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjI4uvS6oSNAxW838kDHZdUIbwQ4eYNegQIExAD&mstk=AUtExfBEleZhvqCskfX9hHTWPJvsJWY4gprujItZHJv5p1ffE37qtKNlIecxZJCzqcuFkm79oOxhipVKCeVLTghnOKqXdZtPRtO55lJVzPj0CIVUtAye2LYcmNNKzVE65R-cQdKfH0Ny5i3HYL-BOJRpYIRK9VTP4BdiCCP2qO1Eoda0b4S7TVtYJhVJ5EvTANiyAmWl59uEMZv8pVLf-WA3UVcIMUiX8FVZaPzhdJKCbeAXZXq3WSUIBZ0CT1hpzvOtYE3WKVLQCYIHg_XuhJzTmMtXgBi6xWUnJ46saUmTo_CIDg&csui=3][/url]Non-Ford/Lincoln Apps:
    .Opens in new tab
Some applications that connect to the vehicle through FordPass or LincolnWay may cause excessive data calls, keeping the vehicle's network active and draining the battery.

2. Diagnosing Parasitic Draw:
  • Visual Inspection:
Check for loose connections, corroded terminals, or damaged wiring.

  • Current Sensing Multimeter:
Use a current sensing multimeter to measure the current draw on the positive or negative battery terminal.

  • Four-Channel Scope:
A four-channel scope can help identify which CAN network is waking up on its own, according to a video on YouTube.

  • Ammeter:
An ammeter can measure the current draw from specific modules, helping pinpoint the source of the drain.

3. Potential Solutions:
  • Check for Loose or Corroded Connections: Ensure all battery connections are tight and clean.

  • Address Short Circuits: Repair or replace any damaged wiring or connections.

  • Identify and Fix Sleeping Modules: Use a four-channel scope and ammeter to pinpoint which modules are not going to sleep and address them accordingly.

  • Consider Alternator Issues: If the alternator is malfunctioning, it may need to be repaired or replaced.

  • Disable Non-Ford/Lincoln Apps: If using third-party apps, consider disabling them to see if they contribute to the battery drain.

4. Example Scenario:
A user on Reddit reported having a 2019 Lincoln Navigator L with a persistent battery drain problem, even after replacing the battery multiple times. They noted the "Remote Features Disabled to Preserve Battery" message appearing frequently, according to a post on Reddit. This suggests a potential issue with a computer module or a short circuit that is not going to sleep properly, according to a post on Reddit.

I don't think so. Where would I check for that?
