I've got a stick shift on my Wrangler. It restarts upon depression of the clutch, so by the time you're ready to release the clutch, the engine is already on.spieg12 said:The Sun said:spieg12 said:Muddyfeet said:
I might be the only person on this entire site that the auto shutdown doesn't bother. It was on my 22 3.0 GM pickup and I just lived with it until I didn't even notice it. To be fair I only drove the truck for 3 years so I didn't keep it long enough to know if it would cause premature starter wear.
Btw, off topic but during the late 80's early 90's it seemed like my dad was constantly replacing starters on our work trucks. I haven't replaced one on a truck in years. Better quality?
It doesn't bother me either. I have it on my '22 chevy half ton with the 2.7 turbo. I've never understood why some people are so vehemently against it.
I hate it because I want immediate response when I have to turn into traffic on I-45 from a side street. I don't want that extra 1.5 seconds for the car to have to restart and decide to go.
Interesting. It never dawned on me different vehicles might not restart the same. Mine is almost instant. As soon as I start to let off the brake it is restarted before I can move my foot over to the accelerator. No delay at all if a quick maneuver is needed.
I don't mind it because Wranglers get ****ty mileage. Maybe this will help it.
