I might be the only person on this entire site that the auto shutdown doesn't bother. It was on my 22 3.0 GM pickup and I just lived with it until I didn't even notice it. To be fair I only drove the truck for 3 years so I didn't keep it long enough to know if it would cause premature starter wear.

Btw, off topic but during the late 80's early 90's it seemed like my dad was constantly replacing starters on our work trucks. I haven't replaced one on a truck in years. Better quality?

It doesn't bother me either. I have it on my '22 chevy half ton with the 2.7 turbo. I've never understood why some people are so vehemently against it.

I hate it because I want immediate response when I have to turn into traffic on I-45 from a side street. I don't want that extra 1.5 seconds for the car to have to restart and decide to go.

Interesting. It never dawned on me different vehicles might not restart the same. Mine is almost instant. As soon as I start to let off the brake it is restarted before I can move my foot over to the accelerator. No delay at all if a quick maneuver is needed.
I've got a stick shift on my Wrangler. It restarts upon depression of the clutch, so by the time you're ready to release the clutch, the engine is already on.

I don't mind it because Wranglers get ****ty mileage. Maybe this will help it.

Off topic, but this discussion has me wondering. I want to delete DEF from my 2022 duramax 3.0 Silverado. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Killing a turbo engine without a cool down kills the turbo

On trucks and farm equipment I would agree. This thing is not working hard just driving around town where the start-stop would be applicable.

Has anyone ever tried one of these? It presses the auto start/stop button after engine start to disable the mode.

I have it on my 2019 Highlander for over a year. Works every time.

Yep, I got the 4Dtech module for our 22 Expedition, 5 minute install in the passenger kick panel.

Wranglers get terrible gas mileage because they have the aerodynamics of a brick. Idling doesn't affect that in the slightest.

Basically impossible to delete DEF on any modern GM diesel from the last 5 to 7 years.

It's the NOT idling that may help. I'll take ANYTHING.

I know that my Wrangler is the aerodynamic equivalent of a barn door. It gets worse with the top and doors off.

If car companies want to keep it so they can hit certain mpg in their test (some people will by car x over car y just bc it gets 1mpg better) I don't have a problem, but hopefully going forwaed they will add an option that lets you turn it off with a switch that is persistent so you don't have to manually turn it off each time your drive.

I have auto stop/start on my work bronco sport. A few months ago I stopped to get gas, filled up and started it back up. Pulled across a few lanes to the left turn lane and it auto stopped while I waited.

When it turned green, I hit the throttle and nothing. Wouldn't start up again and it was dead. Battery had died and I was stuck in a left turn lane with no way to move it. Couldn't find a way to put the transmission in neutral.

Worst part was it started drizzling and a cop pulled up to offer help. But when I told him it was dead and I tried everything to get it moved, he told me I had 5 minutes to clear it or he was getting a tow truck. I already had one en route but they were 45 minutes out he said it was too long and he was calling in a tow.

Fortunately a passing car stopped and gave me a jump so I could get it to autozone who replaced it for me.

TLDR: car wouldn't start up after auto stopped while waited because of dead battery. No way to bypass transmission to put it in neutral to push it out. Luckily it wasn't a crazy busy intersection. Auto start/stop sucks

IIRC, my Jeeps have a separate battery for the stop/start system. But, I've heard it can cause problems so a lot of Jeep owners do the battery delete.

But, I also found out the other day that Wranglers/Gladiators with auto transmissions have a way to manually put the vehicle in neutral even with no power...it was a little panel that you popped and then pulled some cord and voila...

My main Jeep is a stick **** though, so...

Can they also make every owners manual include an override for the seatbelt unbuckled chime. I don't need to be governed on my safety decisions and sure as **** don't need to buckle up every time I am hopping in and out of my truck working around the property.

I also bought a pair of "seatbelt extensions" I keep one plugged into the drivers side. Comes in handy for Short trips down the driveway and county roads

That's why I said basically. Finding a shop to do them or doing it yourself isn't readily available at the moment, especially the 3.0

Well, spoke too soon I guess. After 10 days, this popped up.

Took it out and hooked the OEM connections back up and the message went away after leaving my truck off for a few hours. Didn't have to disconnect the battery.

Wondering if I should try to get a refund or see if it keeps happening.
