Appreciate the feedback! Same to you choppin Ds!
Show her the difference in not only price to purchase, but operating costs and promise to use that saving to take her to Hawaii, Caribbean, Europe, whatever every other year. Congrats on the hotel sex.matthewj042 said:
Trying to make a list and narrow down which SUVs we're going to test drive this summer before making a purchase.
As title suggest, we're looking for an SUV with a 3rd row to kiddos for road trips and various athletic events. Currently in a 16' Tahoe that's been through the rigger raising two young boys but open to any and all suggestions. Wife absolutely refuses to consider a minivan.
Here's where it gets a little tricky. She's 5' and I'm 6'-7". We would like something that both of us can drive and legroom is by far the biggest challenge. (Think 38"-40" inseam for me)
Thanks in advance for the advice and suggestions!

This is the back of the wagoneer… we had a lot of stuff. And I mean a lot. Ski trip plus groceries for 4 people
Why do the smallest people require the most amount of stuff?
I have a 4Runner. I love it. I hope I die with that vehicle. But I wouldn't recommend it for the OP. It's utilitarian and will run forever. But with the 3rd row up there's no cargo room, there's not a lot of adjustment for different size drivers, and it's not the most comfortable for roadtrips. It fits for me because I wanted something that will run forever that can also go offroad, but at that price point there are more options that tick more boxes for the OP.Redstone said:
My mom has an Enclave, but it's probably too small for your needs. My wife has a Kicks, but it's also on the smaller side. I have a 4Runner Limited, which might work for your specifications. My stepfather has his father's 2001 Expedition, which could also work, but I'd definitely get a later model year.

Just get a new Tahoe. They are about 17.5' long, so 1.5' longer than your current 16' Tahoe.
I think you buy a Tahoe with 1 kid.Quote:
I got a new Tahoe last year and it's been great. But I wish I had a suburban.
you spent $80,000 b/c your wife is no good at Tetris?HollywoodBQ said:That picture illustrates why we had to go from a Grand Cherokee to an Expedition after the second kid was born.ChoppinDs40 said:Outlaw0206 said:Pmac2tx said:
Just got a grand Highlander hybrid max platinum - love it. Lots of leg room
I'm looking at the grand highlander now. I really like the model you got, but I'm torn about the backseat captains chairs. Have one little one and plan for more in the future, so bench seats allows 2 car seats and a seat in the middle for mom if need be. I did hear that the console they have in between the captains chairs is removable, which is a plus.
Don't torture someone to sit in between 2 of them.
Our road trips, my wife is relegated to the third row after about 2.5 hours. From there she can help the two in bucket seats (5yr old and 1yr old) and also get some sanity by herself. We just keep 1 seat folded on the third and the rest flipped down for cargo.
My wife couldn't stand having to pack everything precisely correct in the back of the Grand Cherokee. She liked being able to just haphazardly throw stuff in the back of the Expedition.
we are similar. Short wife and me who is six foot five in addition to a set of 2nd grade twins. The new gx is likely our next move at the end of this year or early next year. She doesn't want a full size Tahoe type vehicle but we also need something built on a truck based platform. Not many options out there. We went to west side Lexus a few weeks back and checked them out. I was surprised by the amount of room it has. Currently she drives a 4runner and the new GX feels much bigger on the inside compared to it.matthewj042 said:
Wife has fallen in love with the GX550. Its a tighter squeeze for me but manageable.
Anyone have a Lexus contact they can share with me? username@gmail.com
