2015 Silverado 2500HD Duramax WT, extended cab, short bed, a little over 136,000 miles.

Big hail storm in Canyon Saturday night. Skylights and hatchback cars lost glass, as well as some regular windshields. Three story retirement apartments just 1/4 north of us lost almost every west-facing window. Branches down, saw at least one tree fell onto their house.

We were lucky, our house roof is toast, but no broken glass. Strong west wind, so the top and west-facing side of my pickup got it bad, the right side is untouched.

My 2020 F350 had WAY less visible damage than yours, and it cost $14k … once the guy got it in his shop under the lights, you could see that every single trim piece around the windows, the bedcover, etc all had little dings in them.

I still have zero dollar comprehensive so it cost me zero out of pocket, and the truck looks brand new again.

It's a farm pickup, WT is the lowest trim level

I suspect I'll take the check and not fix it. Will lose on eventual sale, but it's mechanically sound, so I think anyone buying a 10 year old duramax WT is not going to care a lot about cosmetics.

Some might say I've been at that stage since birth.


We've saved well for retirement, and we've had some recent windfalls that really helped even beyond our already excellent situation.

I think it's possible that it would embarrass me, if I couldn't afford a new pickup. But since I could write a check and buy a new pickup tomorrow, it somehow makes me care even less about cosmetics.
