Any words of wisdom as I look at getting one?

Air suspension

This won't be a daily driver. Maybe a few days a week and the weekend errands. I want something to haul a few extra kids, some junk every now and then but also can be taken to work and take clients out.

I have a LR322 Range Rover and love it. I also have a 2021 Escalade and the Range Rover still has a smoother ride and better pick up.

I have a 2018 Discovery 5 with 80k and a 2022 Defender with 18k. Both have been dependable, fantastic cars. Only complaint I have is that the Defender tends to break windshields. At least it did when we first got it. We broke two in the first month, then switched to an aftermarket windshield instead of the LR branded one, and it has been fine since. Also, every 6 months or so the entertainment system won't turn on on the Discovery. But if you turn the car off then turn it back on, it will be working.

My wife wants to add a LR4 to the fleet before they get too expensive. Why? Because they are cool AF. If you actually look at the "problems" with the LR4 it was almost always complaints about the entertainment system. The engine problems were just on the first couple of years. I would love to add a low mileage LR4 from the last few years they made them. That way I could give my kid the defender when he turns 16.

I put 180,000 miles on a 1999 Discovery. They are much more rugged than many people give them credit for.

Braking system was always a little undersized. It really hates stop and go big city driving.

Gaskets are known for having issues, but mine never leaked oil.

Suspension was always better than anything else I drove offroad.

Everything costs more to replace. Starters, alternators, etc. I had my starter rebuilt instead of replacing it.

Nobody wants to work on them.
