Are battery management systems (BMS) a scam?

I've got a 2019 F150 still with the original battery. My wife drives a 2021 Ford Bronco. Recently had to change my wife's battery and it got me thinking about the battery in the F150. One of the first things I did when I bought the truck was use Forscan to turn off the auto start/stop and to turn off the seatbelt dinging and other annoying things. At the time, disabling the BMS was the only way to turn off the Auto Start/ Stop. I can't help but wonder if disabling the BMS is the reason my battery has lasted this long versus the Bronco's?

The 2019 probably flooded led acid and the Bronco likely has an AGM. Pandemic era AGMs suck. Also the Bronco has tons more electronics than your 2019. I keep my less frequently driven vehicles on tenders and it keeps them happy.

I have a fleet customer that does utility locating that has purchased 3000 Chevy trax, almost 85% of them have failed batteries from the factory and wind up needing to be jumped to be driven off the transport.

The 2019 is AGM also, we live in B/CS area and park outside for equal heat, both drive roughly the same mileage, she works about a mile from my work. I guess the question is, is 4 years more the norm or closer to 7?

I have a '18 F-150…. The original AGM died about 3 months ago. 100K miles.

I have the same battery in my 2023 F150.

My BMS has been shutting off remote functions and it turns out my short drives weren't charging the battery all the way. I put a tender on it at 1Ags suggestion and it seems that she just needed a good charge. (knocks on wood).

If I understand correctly, BMS on my 2018 F150 only allows charging up to 80% capacity on my AGM battery. Is this correct and if so can that be reprogrammed and is there any reason not to change it to 95 or 100%?

I just replaced the AGM in my 2023 last after the BMS was disabling everything like crazy while I was on a hunt in the mountains. I drove home 1300 miles almost straight through and the next day I had a fully dead battery. I put it on a tender and that helped for about a day so I drove to Walmart and replaced it with a larger battery. Hopefully I'll get more than 32 months this time.

My 2019 F150 is still on the original battery with ~60k miles on it. I haven't made any changes, but I do turn off the auto start/stop every time I drive.
