I've already taken it to Montana and back last month. One of the most fun things is whenever we stop to buy gas, there is always someone coming up and asking about it or asking to take pictures. Lots of guys have similar tastes.

It might just be the picture angle but those tires look ridiculously wide.

Yes, it's ridiculously priced.
But, we've reached an age where many of our friends and peers are having health problems or are no longer with us. When you get to your mid to late sixties you start to realize how few years you have left to enjoy life and do things you wouldn't have normally done. Having saved enough from many years of working, living below our means, and investing well (and lucky), we have ourselves covered financially for the rest of our lives. So now in the mode where everything is "consumable".
Take care of your family first (nothing wrong with spending on "family toys" if it strengthens your family), then yourself. A friend once told me "if you don't fly first class…..your kids will". That's where we are now in our lives.

There comes a time in life where it "hits" you that things are accelerating towards the end. I'm 20 +/- years younger, but I'm there. My 12 year old has been all over the world. We are getting a little tired of flying, so this Christmas I bought season passes to Universal, plus the hotel for the first visit in January. I told her we were remodeling the house, she asked to do the pool first, so we are. I'm extremely thankful to be in a position to do this, but it was done by sacrificing myself to the military in my earlier years. With health issues now stemming from those years, I don't take anything for granted. She is going to be well taken care of when I'm gone, but we are going to have a bunch of fun before then.

I'm not in the market for a camping rig just yet, but this is now on my radar. That said, what about the frame? I've seen pictures of frames snapping on campers that fit over the bed on some 350's etc. I would have thought they would have opted for something even beefier.

Haven't heard of any problems with theirs. They take off the bed, completely redo the suspension (Carli 3.5 pin top with fox shocks), and build the camper from the frame up. It has a metal frame with a fiberglass shell around that. Everything runs off 1000amp hrs of lithium batteries. No generator, no propane. Charges from separate alternator when driving, and solar panels when parked. 3000 watt inverter runs induction cooktop and microwave and any plugins. Everything else is DC (Air conditioner , air compressor, refrigerator, starlink). Heat is a glycol circulation system heated by a diesel furnace tied to fuel tank. Should be able to go without shore power for extended periods (didn't even take the power cord to Montana). Starlink mini on top is great when you are in backcountry with no cell service.

Have averaged 15 mpg with 6.7 power stroke. Range is over 650 miles on a tank. Pleasantly surprised with mileage and drivability considering it weights over 12,000 lbs. Also love the engine brake feature on the F350 in the mountains, between the engine brake and auto downshifting, it maintains the last speed when you let off the accelerator.

They make a beefier version built on a F550, but I doubt I could change a tire on that!

That's awesome that you're in a position to do that.

I had a good conversation with a friend back in Australia when he turned 60, about how many more summers, Christmases, etc., that he thought he had left.

When he broke it down to the fact that he probably only had less than 20 times left to take his family on vacation, watch NYE fireworks, etc., it really put life into perspective.

You're definitely doing the right thing. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Sheesh. That's sobering.

Maybe I really will go buy that completely unnecessary Aston Martin that can't be serviced anywhere around here and just park it in the garage and look at it.

Nothing too fancy inside, but does have a cassette toilet and shower.
When grandsons first saw it they asked if they could come live in it.

Sweet rig! I'm just wondering how you are getting 15 mpg out of that thing? I've got a F250 with a bone stock 6.7 and I'm lucky if I can get 15.5 mixed and 16.5 hwy mpg. Did you remove the DPF and have it tuned or is that bone stock as well?

It's stock. Maybe a combination of many of the miles so far being at higher altitude(always get better mileage) and I pretty much stay at speed limit ( a little too big with longer stopping distance to push it beyond). The drop down top definitely helps with aerodynamics.

AG81xx, do you live around the Argyle/Lantana/Copper Canyon Area.

I saw a rig like this, this morning getting on 407. Was certainly eye catching.
