I own a landscape company and one of my trucks was going to be in the shop for a couple weeks so we borrowed my buddies (he owns a electrican business) beater of a truck.
My crew was taking a break at a gas station and parked along one side of property. When they finished they had to back up and then pull around the pumps to exit the property. Some crack head pulls up to a pump as my guys are backing up and our trailer hits his bumper. He made no effort to back up his vehicle. We got video from the convenience store. The other driver immediately asks my foreman for $500. My foreman laughs and said no. They exchange insurance info and driver licenses. We noticed that insurance card which was a pic on his phone has another car listed and someone else's name listed. Also the car is listed to someone else (same address as on his DL). This guy filed a claim and my friends insurance rep said he also has a attorney. The insurance rep said that this guy has filed numerous claims over the past couple years. The convenience store owner says he usually has a younger girl w/ him that is missing a bunch of teeth.
I don't want this to affect my friends insurance. Should I see if my insurance will handle it (hired/non hired) or should I have a lawyer contact him and see what it would take to go away?
Thank you!
