Hey guys,

2014 F-150 (FX2), 132k miles.

Drove 8 miles then lost speedometer, air bag light came on, then lost most of the acceleration and then the truck went into limp mode.

Any idea what the issue is and what it might cost?

Did it throw any codes? Any resident codes?

Disconnect the battery... reconnect... see if it recovers.

That's all I got (I didn't Google anything). Good luck.

Maybe someone here can state the top 3 most likely things it could be just based on year, model , and engine but I strongly recommend at least pulling the engine codes. I think they will do that for free at most major auto parts stores but if you can't get it there then I think you can buy code readers for like $35 at Auto Zone or similar place. And you can use it often over the years, it's a good investment.

I had a 13 Ecoboost that did this around 130K. No check engine light. Turned off truck restarted and all was normal. This happened twice in the span of 2 weeks. Shortly after that, I traded the truck. I saw many things online that it is caused by a speed sensor in the transmission. If this is truly the cause, then I don't think it would be very costly.

OP I know you are just looking for some help, but it could be 1000 different things. Could be a $20 fix or thousands. Buy a cheap code reader or borrow one. Doesn't sound like getting to a parts store for a free code read is a real option. Could have it towed to a repair shop and have them hook up a scanner also.
