Just noticed some new oil stains on my driveway and crawled up under the truck…bottom of the oil pan, protective bar and area around the rear main seal are saturated.

Anyone have enough experience to give an educated guess at what this could be and what the likely fix is? I am scared I will have to spend another $2-3k on something that seems like it should be in the $500-700 range.

Any feedback would be much appreciated!

I have a 2016 f150 w 5.0. I had started noticing oil spots on driveway a year or so ago. I took it to the mechanic I've known for years. He just replaced gasket on oil pan. Fixed the problem. I want to say was only couple hundred $.

Hopefully that's the case for me.

If you or anyone has any Houston area mechanic recommendations it would be greatly appreciated. I'm in Cypress (NW) but have not been pleased at all with Christian Brothers.

On Telge Between Jarvis and Spring Cypress.

Robert is a good honest guy. He's done a lot of work on my vehicles (brakes, etc..) for the past 20 years. He did the Bilstein 5100 level on my last F150 (2016 w 5.0)

Tell him you got his name from the TexAgs auto board

If you are motivated enough to dig a bit deeper you might be able to diagnose this.

I would be brake clean and hose off the oil soaked areas.

then run the engine and observe near the pan and rear main area.

I would also look upwards towards valve covers and heads.

They are on cypress n Houston just west of jones rd.
We've been taking all our cars there for years. Brandon runs the place. Great guy.
They usually have some classic cars in there people take him to work on.

Brandon won't upsell you. I went in there once thinking I needed a brake job, he looked and told me to come back in a year, lol.

Thanks for the recs everyone. I think I am done dealing with these big high volume mechanics. They just don't seem to care and have lost my trust.

Might try fixer's rec first.

2014 F150 with the 5.0

Several years ago I had the exact same drip. Noticed it in my parents driveway over Christmas.

Oil pan gasket.

I had been using Caliber on Louetta/Ella (close to my house). Started letting them do oil changes when I first moved here and let them keep doing some increasing larger jobs that popped up. I'm done with them. They correctly diagnosed a burnt valve but I shouldn't have let them do the heads. I never got a report from the machine shop that rebuilt the heads and now I've got a slow leak on both head gaskets. They tired to convince me that the deck lids were warped and I needed a new engine. "Well it can't be the heads or the gaskets cause we just redid those. But we'll apply the head job under warranty to the new engine."

Thank you, just surprised by how much oil is on the rear main seal and protective bar, as well as the pan. I guess maybe it splatters more than I would have thought?
