Just wanting to make sure I'm not missing something. Truck has 5000 miles. Weird grinding noise so I took it to the dealership, and the transmission is bad. They will replace for free under warranty but are going to use a remanufactured transmission. Is that acceptable? I feel like a truck bought 3 months ago should get a new transmission, but I don't know enough to insist

I admittedly have nothing to add but I'm with you. Brand new truck should get a new transmission, not a used one.

Year/make?

What dealer and what information did they pass on that states it's a reman transmission?

You may need to read the warranty, but I'd insist on new. What they're putting in is someone else's bad trans that they've done work on.

No thanks.

Escalate to the manufacturer. Similar circumstance with Ford a couple years ago and they put me in the ford buyback program. They bought it back- including sales taxes and extended warranty.

2025 Maverick

The service rep said the replacement would be a reman

Devil's advocate. They could fix the issue with OP's transmission which would essentially be doing the same thing.

Here is the relevant page of the warranty. Last paragraph says they can use reman parts at the discretion of Ford or the dealer. Still seems shady on a brand new vehicle to me

Reman generally means complete tear down and replacement of any worn parts so that it is good as new.

And the new car warranty/powertrain still applies.

As others have said, the dealership could also take your transmission down and correct the issue and give it back to you.

I'd be ok with either option.
