I did look online and I assume this is a phishing phone call (vishing).

Been getting repeat calls from the same number. I thought it might be a client we are working with but didn't recognize the number. I answered and the human voice says "Good Morning "name" this is the Accident resource center calling regarding your recent accident".

I haven't been in a car accident since, well never.

Google search seems to indicate this is a scam, but related to actual car accidents, not imaginary ones.

There was a breach in the state unemployment system in 2020/2021 (covid) so I've had my and my wife's credit frozen since then. I'm worried that someone stole my identity (had multiple CC stolen since 2020 - fortunately the frozen credit seems to be helping stem any theft) and maybe did get in a car accident and is using my ID/Name?

Or is this just vishing and don't worry about it?

ADD: Wife just called me and said she got the same call.

Now getting voicemails from other people about an accident on Dec 2.

Car Insurance telling me that there are no pending claims on my insurance. Probably should check SSN and confirm no one is earning income in my name.

i've been getting calls from "google" or some entity almost daily for months now asking to verify if i changed some password. "press 1 if it was you, press 2 if not". i block and report all of them as scams. my pixel does a decent job of at least screening things so the phone doesn't ring usually, but i see the missed calls and voicemails afterward.

I got a couple of texts from someone who thinks I'm my sister and asked if I'd sell my property on what is my parents street.

First time I just deleted/reported spam. The second time I responded that if they show up I'll shoot them in the f'ing face then hunt the most vulnerable in their family and do the same.

They stopped texting.

Looks like someone with my same first and last name, but different middle name was in fact involved in an accident in OH.

I found the crash report on the state DPS web site.

Fortunately the person is not impersonating me as they have and OH Drivers License, different car, insurance, etc.

What a PITA.
