My 2025 Yukon XL Denali w/ 3.0 Durmax (10k miles) decided to grenade itself and is currently in the shop waiting on a new engine. It's been there about 2 weeks with no real idea on how much longer this could take.

I've also been reading the stories online about GMC having so many issues with this engine they are replacing engines with refab'ed motors and not new ones. Obviously I didn't pay this much money for a rebuilt motor.

Anybody have any luck on a lemon law buyback? How was the process? I know that Texas law says it has to be in the shop for more than 30 days which I think will be the issue here.

GM and dealer gave me no loaner. In the meantime I pulled my 2011 LC200 with 220k miles out of storage. It fired right up and has been bullet proof.

Following, just got my 3.0 suburban back last week after being in the shop for 3 months. Considering lemon lawing for diminished value. They did give me a loaner after we harassed them enough.

I have googled it. There 4 different ways to file a lemon law claim. I was asking more about the actual steps and general PIA the process is from anyone who has done it.

When I took my car in the service manager said I was the 4th 3.0 in 6 weeks to come in for replacement.

I did it through the BBB. Fairly easy process and I had a loaner the entire time.

Which Dealership? Does GM have a buy back program? I had a then one month old 2023 F250 pickup at the dealership for about 5 months waiting on rear end parts they could not get. Luckily, the dealership let me use a loaner F150 the whole time. Eventually, the general manager of the dealership asked if I wanted to be in the Ford buyback program- which I did. It took a month, but Ford paid me back for the truck, less the 1,200 miles I had put on it. Including sales tax and the extended warranty I had purchased.

Whether you get approved or not, having the state as your advocate to the manufacturer is very helpful.

It's worth opening a case imo. GM didn't end up buying my truck back after the transmission issues, but we did end up with a loss of use settlement

When I had issues with my Alfa a couple of years ago, I reached out to Lemon Law Group Partners.

The process was really simple. I did not get a buyback, but I did get somebody to come over from Italy to fix the car, and received a five-figure settlement for loss of use.

LZ0 touted as an improvement over LM2, how widespread is this issue with the LZ0's? Disappointing to see this.

Try three months. I borrowed a minivan to get around, duck hunt etc. 2005 f250 w 6.0

Lemon law is a PIA everywhere. Document absolutely everything.

Steve Lehto is a lemon law attorney in Michigan (he does not take cases outside of Michigan) who has a great YouTube channel. He frequently talks about some of the ridiculous arguments he's heard in court and the things manufacturers do to get out of lemon law claims.
