Just witnessed and had to stop and help with a nasty wreck. Made me remember I wanted to get dashcams again.

What is the current rec on a basic but decent unit? Need to get 3. Had an entry level one 8 years ago that worked pretty well, but doesn't seem to be around now.

If you want to spend money, blackvue or think ware.

Amazon budget friendly, Redtiger. I like the F7N

I've had a viofo for 3 years. Have not had a single issue with it and it's survived three texas summers parked outside. My wife has a vantrue one and it's been nothing but trouble.

I have a Red Tiger in two vehicles. They have a front and rear view camera. We've been very pleased with them.

Ditto. I have an A119 in the front that's going on 4 years old.

I also have a Garmin 35 (I think) on the rear window that's even older. That one I have to format the card every 6 months or so otherwise I get errors.

FitcamX if hiding the camera is a priority. Video quality is good too.

I run red tiger. Linus tech tips on YouTube just did a dashcam evaluation.

I just recently bought and installed Redtiger F77's in both my truck and my wife's Expedition.

Front and rear 4K cameras with 256gb built in storage. This is important to me, because the speed to delete videos and write a new file is much quicker with the built in emmc chip than a micro ssd.

Great image quality during the day and at night. I have a third camera and hard wire kit waiting to go into whatever vehicle we buy for our daughter in the next month or so.

Got mine on Amazon for $299 each. I think they may be cheaper now on the Redtiger site.

I just installed a Wolfbox 900 review mirror that has a front facing camera as well on my 2008 FJ Cruiser (which has a notoriously bad blind spot) and so far it has been great.

I have a fitcamx in one of my cars and it absolutely sucks. The first I received was DOA.

The second won't remember its settings, doesn't record consistently, and I have to go into airplane mode to actually connect to it with an iphone. I have to connect to it weekly to make sure it's actually recording and has the right date.

They also don't have a GPS chip so no location/speed data. I think those are important for a dashcam.

MercyLion has a similar product, with a different app, that I plan to try next.

I have a nearly 10yr old Viofo A119 in one of my cars that still works great despite being parked outside for a decade.

That sucks. I've had four over the last 6 years and they've all worked perfectly.

I switched to Blackvue last year. It's nice to have a dash cam with a decent app. My previous cams had apps, but they were terrible and more often than not fail to connect with the camera.

I installed the Wolfbox G900 TriPro in my Bronco and love it. It has a front facing camera, a rear facing camera, and a trail camera.

Most people will respond with what they have, and say it's good because they haven't had multiple and just that one...

But get a VIOFO.

Need proof? Watch the youtube comparisons like the one on this thread and others. Watch them run it through various tests, exposures, etc. You'll quickly see why.

Had a Vantrue for a while that I liked other than it didn't hold up to the heat well and wound up unuseable after a couple of years. It's apparently a known issue. Got a viofo recently based on some research but haven't set it up yet.
