Eyeing a 2019 Ford Escape, 1 owner, 110k miles, documented regular service on carfax, clean inside and out. Priced at $7500. Would be for my soon to be college freshman heading to Aggieland in the fall.

Any concerns on this year? I previously had a 2008 Ford escape but not apples to apples.

Transmission approaching the trouble mileage?

What to look for or areas to inspect closely?

I have a scanning tool I will take and check for codes.

Thats a 1.5 or 2.0 turbo motor, correct? Maybe the base model had the 2.5L naturally aspirated Mazda engine, if so that engine is very reliable. I'm not sure if it has the same transmission as the Mazda.

Always good to search online forums or discussions focused on that year and model.

If 1.5 or 2.0 built before May '19 and does not already have a new engine you will be buying an engine in short order. The 1.5 and 2.0 engines in Escapes and Focus ARE GARBAGE

Don't do it. The transmissions are junk in these, and it's an expensive ordeal. Get an older Lexus RX whatever it is, or if you want newer try a Mazda

I have kids in a 2020 and a 2025. Both have been great.
