Bronco For Wife?

My wife's lease will end soon. I kinda want a Bronco or Jeep Wrangler for her next car. Mostly so I can drive it every once in a while.

Is the current Bronco worth buying if the expectations are mostly hassle free operation for 50-70K five or six years? Will the little 2.3l be a worth considering?

I would also consider a Wrangler but have had a few of those and wouldn't mind trying the Ford next time. Purely on style and novelty.

Opinions welcome

25 Bronco 4D badlands 6MT owner here.

The "little" 2.3 is 300hp and is a new engine, still an ecoboost but called the MPC engine.

They have proven to be quite reliable so far, doing duty in the explorer and Mustang.

My only gripe is the oil filter location if you DIY oil changes but otherwise I find the engine to be quite good and has better power and smoother than the previous gen 2.3 I had in my 23 Bronco.

I would absolutely go Bronco over Jeep in your situation.

I've owned Jeeps. They're fun.

But if your goal is 60-70k hassle-free miles for your wife...I think you'll have much better success with the Bronco over the Jeep.

Wife has a '24 Badlands with the 2.7 and loves it. No issues. Definitely do the Bronco Off-Rodeo if you get one.

I own a Jeep Wrangler 4-Door Rubicon.
My brother's wife recently bought a 4-Door Bronco.

I highly recommend the Bronco over the Jeep.

Unless your wife is in her 50s and likes ducks.

Also, all the stuff that has failed on my Jeep Wrangler failed while it was still under Warranty. I've been out of Warranty for a couple years now. After replacing the rear axle and transfer case under warranty, everything else has just been oil changes and tires for the most part.

I thought someone was trading their wife for a Bronco.

My '22 Bronco was garbage in terms of fit and finish. Panel fit up was bad, doors were crooked, etc. The frameless windows rattled and my driver's side door was so misaligned that the window would pop out of the track and get sucked out about 1/4" or more in strong crosswinds. The only way to get it back in was to slow down to 35mph-ish and roll it down and back up, but it would usually do it again a few minutes later.

The infotainment was glitchy. The speaker would frequently only play out of the driver's front speaker - the only way to get it to reset was to prompt Siri speak, cancel the prompt, and the sound would then play correctly. I wasn't the only one - I mentioned it on B6G and several people thanked me for breaking the Contra code.

The 2.7 is a rough running engine. It has a heavy 1-2-3, 1-2-3 vibration you can feel through the steering wheel, even when idling in park. Not sure if Ford has fixed the cam phaser issue for the 2.7 yet, but the 2.3 was good.

If you don't get the painted modular top, check for cracks and be prepared to swap tops until you get a good one.

I really wanted to like my Bronco, but I gave up on it after 43k miles because it was just one headache after the next. I've had 264,000 trouble free miles between 5 Jeeps and wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Of course, I don't buy dumb **** like 4xe and pay attention to what is currently working and what isn't, but I've had 3 3.6s and 2 2.0s and have enjoyed all of them.

I have had a 21 bronco, 21 gladiator, and a number of regular wranglers over the years. I would bronco all day every day and vet all of them. My wife loved the bronco.

My wife has a 2020 jeep Sahara with the freedom top that she loves. 96k miles and zero issues - hoping this doesn't jinx us. Nothing aftermarket on it and she just drives it around town now that she's retired. Used it as a daily driver for probably 3 years.

I rent a lot of vehicles.
If I can get a full size bronco I'm getting that.
Ill pass on the bronco sport and get a wrangler or gladiator instead, but I've had too many times where they (jeeps) tend to pull to a side at highway speeds... and definitely for highway speeds do the longer wheelbase gladiator.

2023 Big Ben's with the 2.3L (37,000) and 2025 Badlands with the 2.7L (12,000). Both have been great so far. Lots of recalls, but most have been pretty benign stuff. The rear shocks on the 2023 was significant, but fixed before they failed.

2.3L is a 2-door and 2.7L is a 4-door.

They are loud, but great for the 12 days of perfect weather we get in Houston. Love being able to pop the front tops off and enjoy the outside. I haven't taken mine off road yet, but I took my identical vehicle on the trail at the Bronco Off Roadeo and it handled anything I would want to try in my daily driver.

I have had a 2007 Wrangler, 2021 Gladiator, and now the Bronco. There seems to be tons more accessories for Jeeps, but much of the stuff is just cosmetic junk. The needed mods are pretty much all available for the Bronco. I would get a Bronco over a Jeep. I'm interested to see if the Bronco Filson Edition has any legit upgrades or just stickers and stuff.

I got a 2025 Badlands in November with a 2.7 and have loved it. Been driving 3/4 ton diseal trucks for years and decided to add something different as my daily driver. I currently have 10,000 miles on it with a Sasquatch package and am averaging 20 mpg but the majority of my driving is on open highways. So far it has been a great vehicle.

Video of her reaction for training purposes.

Side note: Jeeps are hot garbage right now. Ford did everything right with Branco.

2024 Bronco 2 door 2.3 Big Bend MT

It's been perfect through 15k miles and never fails to bring a big stupid grin to my face. The missus loves driving it, too.

Have a 2.7L Bronco, phenomenal car. They've worked out the kinks from the first two years
