I hate my first car. This dirty skank came from Gun Barrel City Texas. I first saw it at the Pate Swap Meet when they held it at the old Rangers Ballpark parking lot. The 326 is original (never .bored over but rebuilt). I've tried to keep her happy but she's a Wiley snatch. Th-350 might help.

In dire need of a glove box restoration. Putting the Aggie logo so close to the Cubs, Cowboys, and Rangers might be causing our athletic curse.

You should sell this to me for tree fitty.

She's a very solid car but a real money pit. I'd love to keep the original engine and install a 400ci perhaps. Something that gets me a healthy performance boost with better everyday reliability. Anyone have suggestions? An LS2 6.0L swap might be pretty cool.

Yep. LS swap a 6.0 liter in her and she will rip and be reliable.

I have a detailed breakdown of all my expenses to do this if you'd like.

Hovering around $15k at this point. Still need to do the disc brake conversion & replace the rear axle with something beefier, but it works for now.

Awesome! I'm going to stick with my factory drum brakes for now along with suspension. I was thinking 20k for a well done classic modern build so your budget seems very achievable with my objectives.

Obviously, this is not a showpiece, rottisserie framed factory lickin' grease from the floor restored Lemans. She's a total b*tch. But she's my b*tch. Just gotta upgrade them granty panties is all.

Couple of recommendations:
  • Buy a car water pump the first time, not a truck pump and miss the return window
  • Figure out your radiator hose routing before you buy a radiator, so you don't have to do as much fitting & cutting of hoses
  • Buy a new car crank pulley for the car water pump so you don't have to buy water pump spacers when you're being cheap & re-use the truck crank pulley
  • It's not on here but I was able to re-use my driveshaft, just had to cut it down to fit the 4L60E because the 300-ST used the same spline slip yoke
  • Haven't installed the DD speedo converter yet, but if you keep your TH350 you don't need to worry about this
  • I couldn't find a dipstick tube that worked properly until i bought a factory LS3 dipstick. Aftermarket ones kept breaking apart during install. Also couldn't find a dipstick that fit so i trimmed a factory one to fit.
  • I would mount the ECU in the car next time. The mount in the engine bay is nice but the wires are plenty long.
  • I'm running an LS2 intake with an LS2 throttle body. Ran into an issue for my MAF vacuum line but I got it sorted eventually
  • I would buy drive belts on amazon and find one that fits. Chances are it won't be the same as the one that comes on the motor.
  • Highly recommend researching ICT Billet & Dirty Dingo before buying anything. I did not.
  • You can get a better deal if you shop around for stuff individually. I figured this out after I'd already bought the "kit" from BRP HotRods. Highly recommend talking to the guys at Speed Engineering and Tanks, Inc. They were much more helpful and I think BRP sources most of the parts for their kits from those two vendors
  • You will need to make your own transmission cooler lines if you're going to run a cooler. If you're smarter than me, you'll install the AN fittings in place of the factory push in clip fittings on the transmission BEFORE you install it. I was not and therefore I used AN lines spliced onto the factory 4L60E lines coming off the transmission.
  • If you have factory power steering, there's a kit to re-use the track with an LS P/S pump. I did not know that and tried to splice it. It has now failed on me 3 times. Since everything else works fine, I'm just going to have a new line made at a hose shop. The downside is it will probably cost me the same amount as the kit would have. LS Swap Power Steering Hose Kit LS/BBC/SBC | Kwik Kwik Performance Inc
  • If I had a TH350, I would of kept it until it died. Here's a flexplate to mate up the LS to the TH350 from BTR. A lot cheaper than a transmission. BTR FLEXPLATE ADAPTER KIT - LS TO TH400/TH350/700R/PG - BTR21399
