Potentially in the market for a new truck and evaluating the Chevy LT 4x4 and Trail Boss. I've read up on some of the main issues (e.g. lifters) and interested in the board's thoughts. If I pull the trigger we're currently leaning towards the LT 4x4 as it will meet our needs.

Thoughts, concerns? We're in San Antonio area, but willing to drive for a better deal and great experience, any dealership contacts on the board?

If you don't want main bearing issues then your only option is the 5.3 if gas engine is what you prefer.

The lifter issues can be mitigated with a dfm disabler either through Range or Carbyte. Carbyte is plug and play in obd port.

The other mitigation is keeping oil clean by staying at or under 5000 miles on drain interval.

The 5.3 has been pretty quiet with major issues for a number of years now.

Yes it's under powered but is the more reliable powertrain.

Will depend on your needs obviously. But if you don't tow regularly and hold it along time so depreciation isn't a huge concern the turbo 4 cyl may be the most reliable motor as crazy as that sounds.

Yes this. The 2.7 is a good option as well.

New model comes out this fall with new engine.

Lots of 5.3s out there in current model with no problems. I have 2022 with 106k miles and it's been great.

This is all good feedback, appreciate y'all sharing.

I've reached out to a couple of dealerships online, but just double-checking if we have any dealer contacts here.
