I have about 43,000 miles on my 2013 f250. I bought it from a good ol boy who barely drove it

My local shop who does amazing work can't figure out the death wobble issue. We've replaced the track bar so far and he says he can't find anything else wrong.

He told me he thinks the tires have dry rot but there's only like 2,000 miles on them and the tire shop said no sign of dry rot.

There's an audible noise from the front passenger side, hard to describe but sound like something is loose?

If I hit a decent bump going down the highway there's about a 10-15% chance it'll death wobble. Mostly on the passenger front side.

I know it's a complicated problem but anyone experience something similar? Have young kids so don't want a tire to pop off or something.

Tempted to throw a new suspension at it given it's 13 years old and did a lot of sitting

Did you have balance checked? Start there. W/ it sitting that long w/ so few miles balance is where I'd start. Could be a flat spot.

Then bearings, ball joints, tie rods, pitmant arm in that order...

Yeah this has been going on a while now. I've had my tires balanced and rotated maybe twice? It's always happening on the front passenger side.

Shop keeps saying they can't find anything wrong

For record I've had this truck for 5 years now.

Jack up the front and see if you have any movement in the tires- side to side or top to bottom shaking with your hands.

When is that last time you had this truck at a good alignment shop? Get the alignment sheet before and after. I look at caster first on this…alignment, control arm bushings, ball joints, these trucks will require eccentrics if caster is to be adjusted.

I've solved this by replacing steering stabilizer and shocks.

How old are the tires?

I had it on my 2012 F250 at about 65,000 miles. Cooper tires had about 10000 miles on them. Tire guy said the tires were fine. Mechanic said alignment was fine. Finally talked my tire guy into swapping my tires and wheels with the ones on his F250 for a couple of hours and the death wobble went away. I've been running Michelins ever since.

Maybe 10k.

I did replace them a couple of years after I bought the truck

Planning to call Discount to confirm how many miles were on it when I bought them.

I meant to put that in my maintenance sheet but forgot unfortunately.

How old are the tires?
Not how many miles.

What is the date code on the tire?

If the tires are more than 5 years old I'd consider replacing. Alignment and tires are big contributors to death wobble.

How to read date code

Is this stock suspension? Do you have the FX4 package?

I would start with a steering stabilizer replacement as well as front shocks, and then having the alignment checked.

I like Bilstein shocks. 5100 for more of a firm ride, or 4600 for a soft ride.

I got the death wobble once on mine and did shocks, stabilizer, and tires. Have not had it since.

Yessir. Stock suspension and FX4 package.

So those shocks are 13 years old with lots of sitting since it only had like 28k in the first 8 years.

Those shocks are trashed. Get the Bilstein stabilizer too.

Good idea.

I like the idea of the 4600 smooth ride. But we have a 29ft 6,000 GVWR bumper pull travel trailer. We take it 3-5 times a year. Otherwise just my daily driver

https://a.co/d/0h41lBYk

Would I be better off with the 5100 then?

Your choice. 4600 will offer a better highway ride.

5100 is more for lifted leveled off road applications and heavy tow.

I have both and have been pleased with each set.

This doesn't mean theb4600 can't handle towing. It's just a different feel.

That makes sense, was just making sure the 4600 wouldn't be a problem for towing. Going to order this set with the stabilizer included
