So I tagged an unknown piece of metal/debris on the beltway today right by the house and limped home before it totally went flat.

Turns out, the tire never got hit but rattled up through the wheel piercing the inside of the wheel metal.

Any Houston shops that can repair an aluminum wheel reasonably?

I dunno man. Throwing it away might be the smart play. Trying to repair that, and keep the weight the same sounds near impossible. Best case you have a wheel that is tough to balance. Worst case, the wheel disintegrates.
Good opportunity to finally get those spinners.

You're Lucky to have not had a flat, hole in the wheel, and a hole in the fender…
Another vote to replace the wheel- no fun doing it on the side of the highway feeder in the summer.

Posted that last summer. We decided a large nail or bolt went in the tire and was flung out, thru the fender well after puncturing the wheel. Was not a blowout but a sudden instant flat tire.

Nothing is getting "flung" through a rim and wheel well, unless it's being acted upon by a combustion source.

I mean the physics of that are certainly calculable, (not by me) but by plenty of people and computers….
