Disc wanted close to $500 for a new tire on my explorer. I found a used one at a mom and pop shop for $100 - only had a few thousand miles on it and I'm a little worried it could blow out on me sometime but it hasn't yet lol
Last time I bought a used tire it blew out on HWY 21 heading to College Station. Put me and my two friends into oncoming traffic and nearly killed us all. That was the last time.
Went to tire link in N Houston had a nail in 2 year old tire. Prorated the repair and threw in the other one on the axle for zero labor. Out the door for $330 on Highlander tires.
I always buy the warranty at discount. I get a lot of nails and it more than pays for itself.

To add to this you can bring your brand new car to Discount Tire and buy only the warranty.
Have also had them be pretty lenient about adding a warranty after the nail when not bought initially, back before I became consistent about getting them.

They have to be one inch from the edge.
They are utterly paranoid about being sued for a "bad" repair and sadly with good reason. You should be able to patch just about any small diameter puncture leak with a proper patch but because drivers don't necessary maintain proper pressure and because lawyers and juries exist, nobody does this anymore.
My local shop still patches tires. They will also plug them.

Yup. The llantaeria will patch/plug anything as long as you got 20 bucks.
Yep, I go to my local tire shop and they'll do it. I get to practice my terrible Spanish too.
