Yesterday, I went to the BMW Museum in Munich. The museum is really well done. I don't think it's as interesting as the Autoworld Museum in Brussels, mainly due to just being BMWs.

I have no idea how hundreds of people beat me in there when I arrived within 5 minutes of opening. The museum is well attended. It has a really nice layout, you can get close to the vehicles, but they ask you not to touch.

As you'll see in the photos, the motorcycle section reminded me of a Hotwheels case.

And a variety of BMWs of over the years.

I actually saw the bottom model drive by my hotel this morning. Had his doors down like shown in the photo, same color as well.

Went last summer and agree with everything you said. I could have spent a full day in there. I enjoyed how they had a lot of the rooms set up as timelines, whether it was a particular series of cars or even engines (the aircraft engines were interesting too). Also thought they handled the elephant in the room (Nazi period) about as well as they could with the single room set up for it with artifacts and no sugar coating.

I toured BMW, Mercedes and Porsche in May 2025.

Mercedes was probably the best museum but in fairness, I only got to spend about an hour at the BMW Museum due to a serious crash on the A8 between Stuttgart and Munich.

All 3 companies had a section that addressed their WWII efforts. And they were all guilty to a degree but BMW was far and away the most guilty. But, they did lay it all out there if you walked into the room where they had the documentation. And, you could request historical records from BMWs archives if you were interested in researching further.

What I really enjoyed from all 3 museums was that iterative development that took place over years to evolve automobiles to where they are today.

At Mercedes, I loved the story about "Gentlemen Drivers" in the 1910s and later, "Lady Drivers" in the 1920s.

Did you happen to catch the names of those two prototypes?
I don't remember seeing either one of them last year (as a ran frantically through the museum).

That top one is awesome looking.

Top is 2013 Pininfarina Gran Lusso Couple, it's the only one made.

The bottom is a 2012 Zagato Couple, it's the only one made.

I just noticed auto-correct changed Coupe to Couple.
