Ok yada yada might need a daily driver for a year while we are on the waitlist for a gx550.

I would not like to lose a bunch of money on the gap car.

Selfishly I would love to drive a mid 90's Bronco as besides upkeep and it hopefully not blowing up I should be able to resell it for what I buy it for.

Probably dumb but thoughts? Any other options?

Late 4th gen 4Runner might be a good option as well, as far as holding its value. Or even a 1st gen GX.

(edited to add an FJ Cruiser, as well. Obviously I'm a little biased towards Toyota.)

Got tired of waiting for a GX and went with an LX here. Couldn't even get an update four months in

Both the GX and LX have the V35A-FTS with the main bearing issues, right?

Both LX's and GX's were recalled for that but only up to the 2024 model year. Since then they've supposedly fixed it

I have a pretty modified lifted 95 Bronco with a bunch of "modern" tech upgrades (interior revamp, 3rd party ecu, distributor replaced with coil packs, 360 cameras, etc). I hate driving it in the city and wouldn't want to DD it. It's not a comfortable experience compared to newer cars.

I also have an LS swapped 99 2dr Tahoe. Even before I modded the hell out of it, It felt like driving an early 2000s truck vs a covered wagon riding on a frame from the 70s with an interior from the 80s. Mods are plentiful. It's easy to work on, and a lot of GMT410 and GMT800 parts interchange.
