No joke. Mix grape juice with gelatin. Google it. It sounds bizarre but worked for me.

I started jogging again with the (slightly) lower temps and my feet are angry. Dr Scholl's inserts in my work and dog walk shoes, stretch with theraband, ice, aleve and getting better.

Fitness in the early 50s is so fun!

Although this is much better than lumbar back pain I had 10 years ago when I was jogging a good bit and not lifting. Lifting has really helped eliminate that completely.

I was training for a 5k last year, PF got so bad I gave up. In my physical my doc recommended these insoles along with the typical PF exercises/ stretching. They really helped, I wear them in all my shoes now. I just did my first 5k and came in second in my age group. Was pretty excited about that. You can buy them on Amazon as well.

I had it off and on for years. What worked for me to stop re-inflaming it was 1) wear one of those boots to keep your foot extended while sleeping (so you don't re-injure it in the morning), and 2) get a foot doctor to give it a cortisone shot. 10 seconds of pain for relief is worth it.

I suffered with Plantar Fasciitis for months before I finally gave up and went to the doctor. After imaging to ensure nothing was wrong on that front, I was referred to physical therapy. At the end of my first session, the therapist did a "scraping" of my arch with a metal tool. It did not hurt and I (and she) could feel the scar tissue under the instrument. Following this scraping, I rested with an ice wrap. From this first scraping I felt SOOOOO much pain relief. I continued with PT for about 6 weeks and while it was nice to strengthen my calves and increase ankle mobility, I really looked forward to each scraping session! Since then, whenever I feel Plantar Fascia pain, I get out a butter knife and do the scraping myself! Apparently, all I really need is to break up the scar tissue and get blood flowing to the injured area.

Here is a link that discusses this in more clear terms:

I don't know who you are but I am really appreciative of your post. When I have a problem I can't find a solution to, I go to Texags because "we know stuff". I was very skeptical but after 9 months of pain and trying everything short of the shot and surgery, I decided to try this scraping. I found a video of a guy showing the techniques using a wrench.

I honestly expected pain but there was none. A lot of the knots or fibromas for me are in the heel and that is where my pain is first thing in the morning and anytime I rest for a bit. I got to work on them and did it several times Saturday and Sunday this past weekend. I woke up this morning with no heel pain. I am amazed.

I expect it will still take some time to beat it completely, but I am so appreciative that you shared and it worked so well. Thanks!
I'm glad it helped! I just did a search for plantar fasciitis because mine has flared up again, and I wondered if Texags would have any "new" methods for pain relief. I'm amazed at how quickly I've forgotten what all I did 6 years ago!

I just started scraping and then icing. I also brought the hard racquetball to work so I can roll my foot over it while I'm on the computer. I'm hoping to knock the pain down soon!

I will throw a recommendation to be barefoot or as close to it as possible. You'll stop landing heel first cause it hurts so much and at least give that part time to heal.

Massage the area with golf ball.
Just put the ball on the floor, and your foot on top, and roll it over the ball for 5-10 minutes. Do this every day for a couple of weeks, and see if you notice a difference. Also, stretch your toes on the affected foot. Deep stretch.
