Need some additional advice, I've posted before in the above.
I really want to fix this the right/scientific way. If in the end that is me taking TRT then I'm good with that.
11/12/2021 : Total 103, didn't have free done
12/03/2021 : Total 369, Free 63.6
04/21/2022 : Total 181, Free 34.6
All tests done about the same time, 8-9 AM.
No major changes in the last couple of months to warrant a lower test. I've cut my drinking way down and hadn't had a drink for 5 days prior to the last test. I've eaten ~3 eggs a day and 5 brazil nuts and have really cleaned up my diet. My weight has come down slightly. I'm 220lb and 6 foot 1. I don't lift weights, need to start, but cycle hard 3x a week for a total of 70 miles.
Test on 12/03/2021 was done by my GP office who has a PA that "specializes" in TRT. She was eager to put me on the biotine pellets and somewhat less eager but still would do the shots. I felt they were just trying to make money and not solve the issue. As such I didn't contact them and they didn't either possibly because my results came in higher.
Still feeling crappy and possibly even worse. Test on 04/21/2022 was done by a Baylor college of medicine endocrinologist. It took 4 months to get into see him. He ran tons of tests and other than the poor testosterone tests the only other test that was bad was the LH: Luteinizing Hormone at 0.6 which has a normal range of 1.6-9.3. After the results he called me and said I need to book an appt with a Baylor Urologist to get the pellets but that appointment is only able to be booked for 4-5 months from now. He did say they could do a MRI on my pituitary, not sure if that is needed.
Needless to say I'm frustrated and possibly caused by my own actions. I don't want to wait another 5 months to get started on something. I'm confused on the wild swings of my numbers. I did a home sleep study in 2020 that showed I was borderline apnea. I'm planning on getting one done at a true sleep center clinic.
HELP! Recommendations for actions or doctors in the Houston area.
I would have started T shots or gel back in 11/2021 with those labs.
With LH low I would get the MRI of your brain. LH is excreted by the pituitary gland and it tells your gonads to put out hormones (for men and women). The question in your specific case is why is your pituitary failing. Is it a mass or just primary failure?
Regardless of your etiology of Low T (central vs primary testicular failure)- you have Low T and will benefit from correction.
edit: Note I am a pediatrician not an endo or adult doc-- but I know the hormonal axis stuff.
