Not sure what you are referring to about an annual subscription and having to go regularly to a ENT for battery replacement with Phonak. I bought my first hearing aids (Siemens) in 2014. They used rechargeable 312 batteries but could also use standard 312s in a pinch. I got a VA hearing disability a few years later and got Signia. They had sealed rechargeable batteries. I did have a number of issues over the next 19 months so the VA ordered me replacements and I went to Phonak. Had great success with them for over 3 years. I recently became eligible for replacements and wanted to stay with Phonak. Just got their Lumity Life. These are waterproof to the point I can swim with or shower, although I have no reason to do either. The only issue that I've experienced with the rechargeables (other than the Siemens) is that the batteries are sealed so have to be changed out but a technician. The first Phonaks had to send in the right one a little prior to 3 years for battery replacement. These new ones are supposed to have 6 year battery life.
