Canned meat of any kind is very gross with canned fish being the worst offender.


Gross or not, sardines, anchovies, and mackerel are excellent food choices.

Great thread.

H-E-B Bone Broth (Chicken or Beef). 120/135 calories per jar (3 cups). 27 grams of Protein. IMO, the Chicken flavor tastes better and is less calories.

I can never get fish close enough to my nose to get them in my mouth. Gag reflex triggers and it's a no-go.

I boil eggs all the time for quick breakfast after the gym. Don't "hard boil" them. I've tried several tactics and this is the one that peels best and has nice creamy yolks, not chalky. (Chalky yolks smell like sulfur)

Bring water to a boil
Place eggs in and get it to a simmer, set timer to 8:30
Prepare an ice bath, just put ice and water in a bowl big enough for your egg count
When time is up, put the eggs in the ice bath.

They peel easy. I toss mine in cajun seasoning or S&P then put them in ziploc bags with a paper towel. Grab and go,

Also, if you do the same method and boil for 5 minutes you get a runny yolk. Peel them and put them on avocado toast. When you cut into it its beautiful

I get the same result in the Instant Pot. 5 minutes, immediate manual release, put them in the ice bath. Easy peel and runny yolks. Perfect. Sprinkle with Slap yo Mama. I eat two with lunch every day.

Just tried this for the first time, I've seen a few reels on IG lately.

1C Cottage Cheese
2 Eggs
Seasoning of choice (italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder etc.)

Whiz it up in the blender until smooth.

350 degree oven, parchment paper, cooking spray, pour it out into a thin layer.

Bake for 30-35 min until it starts to turn brown. Let it cool and you can divide it as you like. I cut it in half and then quarters and used it like sandwich bread to make a turkey/lettuce/tomato/avacado sammich for lunch. Each half has 19 grams of protein (12 in 1/2C cottage cheese, 7 in the egg). I will be making this often!

Someone mentioned using it for a pizza crust but I am not sure it's firm enough for that. Maybe if you let it crisp up for another 5-10 minutes....might try it sometime.

Greek yogurt with some fresh berries is a great combo. It's packed with protein and keeps the calories down.Hard-boiled eggs are super easy and portable. You can eat them on their own or make a quick egg salad with a little Greek yogurt instead of mayo.Edamame is awesome for a crunchy, protein-rich snack. You can have it steamed or roasted with a touch of sea salt.Cottage cheese is a good choice too. Just look for ones with lower sugar and fewer calories.When I eat snacks during the day, I often use coconut milk powder to get more vitamins

I found Ratio Yogurt last week. 25g of protein and under 5g carbs. Tastes okay and is NOT Greek. I can't stand the smell of Greek.

I hadn't thought of adding protein powder to the yogurt but thats a good idea. I love throwing an oikos triple zero together with fresh berries and a little Sola vanilla almond granola as an after dinner snack

I've been buying fresh shrimp in the Meat Dept at HEB and having them steam it while I shop. There is no charge and you can have it steamed plain or with Cajun or Old Bay seasoning.

My HEB has a shrimp boil most weekends. I love to get them and eat them plain, but I always save a few for omelettes the next day. The seasoned shrimp in an omelette is fantastic. If they have potatoes, I will thinly slice a couple and brown them
In a pan before adding the eggs and shrimp.

Plain, non-fat Greek yogurt mixed with a scoop of protein powder (usually chocolate for me). Beef jerky. And homemade meatballs. I make a big batch, freeze, then defrost as needed. I'll crumble them up and use in scrambled eggs (among other things), but they work well as a stand-alone snack. I do a lb of lean ground pork and a lb of lean ground beef along with eggs, breadcrumbs, mozzarella, beef broth, and various seasonings. Average about 6-7 gms a protein each with very little carbs and fat.

Worcestershire sauce is an underrated condiment/marinade. My BF marinates skirt steak in a mix of it and mustard (and maybe some garlic and a couple other spices) overnight and then grills the steak. I am admittedly a steak snob, and it's delicious.

What's your favorite protein powder? I love my Optimum Nutrition from Costco, but my wife can't stand it. I got her some Isopure there and it's terrible. Trying to find her something palatable in vanilla.

I use exclusively egg white protein powder. I like the NOW foods brand, both plain and vanilla. I use the plain much more often.

It's very fine powder, incorporates well, and has almost no taste. I can tell when I put it in yogurt, so lately, if I add egg white protein to my yogurt, I also add a 1/2 serving of the PB2 Madagascar vanilla almond protein powder. I also add blackberries and raspberries. This is my go-to combo right now and it is so good.

I use egg white protein in my omelettes (along with cottage cheese), overnight oats, acai bowls, smoothies, and yogurt.

I use transparent labs. Tastes good and has clean ingredients.

I've started using Clean Simple Eats for my protein shake. Tons of flavors and doesn't taste like chemicals. 100 calories, 20 grams of protein - I buy it online, and use a code from some instagram influencer. My favorite flavor is the mint chocolate cookie!
