How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
63yr old male. 6-0, ~#205.
Reasonable shape for my age. Been lifting 20 years but had trouble with nausea. I prefer to work out after work. Don't like nothing in my belly in morn.
Symptoms feel like the old days of over working on an empty stomach. Even throw up sometimes.
Interesting thing is the symptoms start 10-15 min into work out. In other words, not really fatigued enough to feel that way. I don't fool around, but I'm not training for the Olympics either.
Only thing I have found that helps is to drink BCAs 2 hours before.
Tried docs- GP, cardiologist, blood work etc. No hints.
Anyone have insight?
Really affects my ability to work out and recover after.
Thanks in advance!

Are you inducing vertigo with the lifting activity?
Just a guess?

In some people, often as you age, some movements or positions can induce vertigo.

I don't think so.
It feels more like blood sugar (not that I really know what that feels like).
Like I said, best way to describe it is when I would overwork (intense practice sessionn for back in the day for example).
It doesn't seem like I can build up to better level to be more palatable. Like training for a run for example.

Maybe check your blood pressure when you have three symptoms. Are you hydrated?

Yeah sounds like blood pressure or low salts, but I would think low salts would only hit you with cardio (not so much with lifting).

Any new meds recently? My wife was told Allegra D can jack with blood pressure.

Are you on any BP meds? Some of them can cause low spikes in blood pressure when you move vertically, like standing up from seated, or doing a squat or deadlift. The effect can be magnified if you are dehydrated.

I also get dizzy easily. I have never been able to work out fasted so I prefer afternoon workouts. I have found it helps to eat a snack at least an hour before I work out. Make sure you are hydrated too.

Do you also pay attention to how you breathe when you lift? Sometimes I realize that I'm accidentally holding my breath too much so I have to be really mindful of that as well. Here is a good video on breathe and brace.
